2. Characters Trevor McKinney He had a very absorbent mind. He was ready to listen to anyone. Fortunately, the right person came along to guide him. Mr. Simonet gave him an assignment to change the world. Trevor created a unique concept called ‘Pay it Forward’ Eugene Simonet Trevor’s Social Studies teacher, had great intentions for the world. He gave his class an assignment that involved changing the world for the better, but perhaps because of fear of doing it himself. In his relationship with Arlene, he showed great fear almost all of the time Arlene McKinney Represented desperation. Most of her acts were done desperately, hoping for a better future. She worked 2 “informal” jobs, just to support Trevor and herself after her ex husband Ricky left her Chris Chandler He was a very inquisitive reporter. He represented curiosity, because he was willing to drive a long distance, just to find out information about a story
3. Timeline Trevor’s teacher gives the class an assignment to devise and put into action a plan that will change the world for the better. Trevor's plan is a charitable pyramid scheme, based on good deeds rather than profit. He calls his plan "Pay it forward" Trevor’s first good deed is to let a homeless man named Jerry live in his garage. Trevor and Arlene argue about her alcoholism and she slaps him in a fit of anger. Trevor runs away from home and Arlene asks Eugene to help her find him. Then Trevor selects Eugene as his next "pay it forward" target and tricks Eugene and Arlene into a romantic dinner date but it fails Arlene and Eugene were together but abandons their relationship when her alcoholic ex-husband Ricky returns to her, claiming to have given up drinking.

When Ricky resumes his abusive behavior, Arlene realizes her mistake and asks him to leave again and come back to Eugene After her date with Eugene, Arlene paid Trevor's favor forward by forgiving her own mother Grace for her mistakes Chandler finally identifies Trevor as the originator of "pay it forward" and conducts a recorded interview in which Trevor describes his hopes and concerns for the project This news is reported on television, and Eugene and Arlene are soon visited by hundreds of people who have participated in the "pay it forward" movement. Trevor defends his friend Adam against a group of bullies, and he consequently dies at the hospital.
