What is soliloquy ?
A soliloquy is a dramatic device which allow a
character to reveal his or her thought to the audience but
not to the other charactr of the play.
When an actor is alon on the stage, he could speak
aloud his thoughts. So, audience come to know the
situation of mind of the character who speak alone on
the stage.
In Shakespeare's time soliloquy were widely used.we
can find soliloquiesin his play.Hamlet one of them which
is famous for its soliloquies.
The word soliloquy comes from
the Latin words solo, meaning
“to oneself,” and loquor,
meaning “I talk.” Thus the
definition of soliloquy is similar
to this compound meaning of “I
talk to myself.”
Hamlet seven soliloquy

To be or not to be
To be or not to be’ is the most famous
soliloquy in the works of Shakespeare – quite
possibly the most famous soliloquy in literature.
That is partly because the opening words are so
interesting, memorable and intriguing but also
because Shakespeare ranges around several
cultures and practices to borrow the language
for his images, and because he’s dealing here
with profound concepts, putting complex
philosophical ideas into the mouth of a
character on a stage, communicating with an
audience
