This webinar discussed using adult stem cells and platelet rich plasma (PRP) to help regenerate brain tissue after a traumatic brain injury (TBI). The presenter, Dr. John Hughes, explained that TBI causes cell death in the brain and stem cells may help regenerate new brain tissue. Pluripotent stem cells found in peripheral blood can differentiate into any cell type and are used along with PRP, which contains growth factors. In the procedure, blood is drawn to obtain stem cells and PRP, which are then infused into patients intravenously and intranasally, allowing them to bypass the blood-brain barrier. Studies show this approach has led to improved cognitive and quality of life outcomes for T
