3. General League Info
• Matches will begin on Monday, 9/10
• The first schedule will be posted by Friday, 9/7
• Each week, new schedules are posted on Friday afternoons by 2pm.
It is your responsibility to know what matches you have been
assigned each week. Set a reminder to check the schedule each week
on Friday afternoon!
• All games are played on the tennis courts. Any open court may be
used, but you may find that some courts are reserved for
varsity/club practices and are unavailable.
4. • All registration, roster
management, communication,
etc. will be done using IM
Leagues
• Accessed through Intramural
Sports website:
www.cortland.edu/IM
• Download and use the app, but
use the website to access all IM
Leagues features. Some
features are NOT available on
the app.
5. Level of Competition
• All-School: our highest level of
competition. Register for this
league if you are talented and
want top-notch competition.
• Recreational: Register for this
league if you aren’t an All-
School caliber player. Most
players in our league fall into
this category.
• Divisions may be combined in
regular season depending on
registration
• Please play to your level of
competition! We may move you
up or down for playoffs at our
discretion!
6. Assigned Matches
• Everyone should expect 1 scheduled match, except during playoffs
when there may be more.
• Expect 5-6 scheduled matches before playoffs; you must play
minimum of 4 to qualify for post-season!
• Can be played on any day and at any time – it’s up to you and your
opponent to find a mutually agreeable time!
• Each schedule will include a single match that will always show up as
being scheduled on Monday. That does NOT mean you must play
your match at that time; that is simply the WEEK that the match is
scheduled for.
7. Assigned Matches
• We will provide a contact list via email when the first schedule is
released with all player contact information.
• We will stop scheduling you for additional matches if you have 3
unplayed matches by the time we are ready to release the next
schedule. Please try to keep up with your matches!
• If you no longer want to play in the league, you may drop at any time
without penalty. Please just let us know!
8. Equipment & Match Rules
• Each player is responsible for bringing at least 2-3 match-worthy balls
to each match – balls can be purchased commercially or for
$3.50/can at SLC Equipment Checkout
• Rackets: personal rackets can be used, or you may elect to rent a
racket for $1.00 from SLC Equipment Checkout
• Matches: best 2-of-3 sets. For each set, 1st to win 4 games wins the
set
• Tie break at 3-all – 1st to 7 points, win by 2
9. Reporting Results
• Report results directly to Matt via email –
Matthew.Nuesell@cortland.edu
• Please include set scores and not just the match score (i.e., 4-2, 4-3
instead of just 2-0)
10. Interested in Playing More Tennis?
• 2 Options:
• Challenges – any player may challenge any other player and have the results
count toward standings up to 2 additional times per season. There is no
obligation to accept a challenge
• Opt-in Emails – every Tuesday, you will receive an email asking if you want to
be scheduled for 2 matches in the next schedule. Requesting 2 matches one
week does NOT mean that you’ll get 2 matches every week.
11. Last Things!
• A copy of this PP is available on IM Leagues
• If you have questions about any general intramural rules or policies,
please consult the Participant’s Handbook, available on IM Leagues
• A passing grade on the quiz is required to finalize registration.
