1) Metro USA Sports has been providing elite sports training and competition for youth in western Pennsylvania since 1996.
2) It has experienced tremendous growth, starting with 16 teams and now including over 246 teams.
3) The organization offers a highly competitive basketball schedule for boys and girls teams in grades 3rd through 8th across five counties in the Pittsburgh area.

3. Since 1996, we believe that to achieve superior team & player
development we must accomplish the following:
1) Active competition within a community recreational program.
2) Tournament team selection from the recreational program.
3) Tournament team entry into Metro USA Sports.
4) Metro USA Sports competition with regional districts in a highly competitive 10 game
schedule + our Metro Invitational Tournament (MIT).
5) Team participation in other regional tournaments following the Metro USA Sports
season.
6) Ongoing player & team development, during the summer, at Metro USA Sports

Over the years Metro USA Sports has provided quality competition
for athletes in the 3rd through 8th grades. We are the regional
leader in elite sports, training & competition in western
Pennsylvania. And, by far, the largest league east of the Mississippi.
6. Structure
Multi-Level CompetitionâŚBasketball
The 1st league to offer divisional play
Division 2: offered for tournament teams or district
âBâ teams.
Divisions 1: offered for tournament teams or district
âAâ teams.
Teams should play to their skill level. Its not about
winning trophies. Its about getting better and
playing to a teamâs potential.
8. Qualifications
Team / District Entrance Qualifications
⢠Roster
â All rostered players must reside within their school district
and have health insurance. Proof of school attending is
required.
⢠Affiliation
â Teams must be part of a recreational league, booster
club program or the like. Metro will assist with establishing
a program when needed.
⢠Home Court & Officiating
â Teams must provide home court time & appoint a
referee chapter to officiate games. Referees are
compensated by the home team.
9. Calendar
⢠Season
â The basketball season begins on December 1st
â The basketball season normally ends the 1st week in
February
â The Metro Invitational Tournament (MITâs) normally
begins in mid February
⢠The MITâs are paid for by Metro USA Sports for all
teams in good standing
⢠All teams are required to play the MITâs
⢠All proceeds are donated to the non-profit host
districts.
⢠Season normally ends the 1st week of March.
10. Entrance
Entering Metro USA Sports Winter Basketball Season
⢠Entering your team or district requires the following:
â Go to www.metrousasports.com to become familiar with our website.
â Email the programdirector@metrousasports.com to request registration
information.
â Obtain your gym time with 5 home dates (1 hour each) per team. Plus 1
or 2 alternate dates. Dates must be provided within the specified
season,.
â Establish a relationship with a local PIAA referee chapter. They will
provide 2 certified referees for each of your home games. The home
team is responsible for compensation.
â Complete the Metro USA Sports registration form for each team and
email to the programdirector@metrousasports.com .
â Send your remittance as directed on the registration form.
â The program director will review the registration form. It will be
âaccepted, rejected, or additional information requiredâ.
â If accepted, a confirmation will be emailed for each team.
11. Rules
& Regulations
⢠We observe and enforce rules & regulations from the National Federation of State HS
Associations (NFHS), and as adopted by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic
Association (PIAA). For 4th grade and under, there a few exceptions and qualifications.
These are provided on a separate document.
⢠All games must be played using an official scorebook. Roster names, numbers, fouls,
technical fouls, ejections, as well as head referee must be on the game scorebook.
⢠All games, including make-up games, must be played prior to the official end of the
season.
⢠Rescheduled games must be reported to the program director within 24 hours of a
cancellation. The team requesting the rescheduled date will be responsible for
completing the game. If both teams mutually agree to a date change, both are
responsible. Refer to Metro Rules & Regulations sheet.
⢠If a game cannot be played due to a school closure or rescinded permit, the home
team must show proof and reschedule the game or face a forfeit.
⢠If a game is scheduled and the gym is open, you are required to play the game of
face a forfeit.
