Conduct the first level (and second level as needed) review and management of all incoming funding
requests for US GenMeds Patient Advocacy/Relations support; coordinate the grants flow process with
IT, legal, compliance, finance and NOGE. This review will take into account compliance rules and an
understanding of the patient and other healthcare advocacy groups submitting the requests
• Develop a broad network of personal contacts with targeted organization staff to help relationship building and
enhance Novartis' external reputation; manage ongoing external communication with the groups pertaining to
the grant process; serve as primary point of contact/relationship manager for identified non-therapeutic area
specific groups as needed
• Develop, maintain and analyze "metric" reporting process which monitors progress and spend by BU/TA,

as appropriate, including monthly and end of year reporting to Patient Advocacy team and leadership
• Maintain ongoing liaison with Global Advocacy and Oncology Advocacy to identify and import best practices.
Identify and leverage opportunities to enhance and streamline processes including implementation.
• Collaborate grant spend with finance on monthly budget targets and forecasts for grants and operational
spend.
• Identify and implement process improvements to grants systems based on feedback from external and
internal interactions; develop and implement training for internal staff and external stakeholders and users of
grants system, timely notify colleagues of support benefits, and develop/submit journal advertisements when
appropriate.
• Ensure all regulatory and reporting requirements are fulfilled to include: Sunshine Act, Basel transparency
reporting, ad hoc internal audits. Manage internal reporting processes and interface with Gen Meds
Compliance team and Senior Mgmt. for approval.
• Close collaboration with other departments to include: Finance, Legal, IT, Ethics & Compliance, NOGE,
State Government Affairs, Health Policy, Medical and Global to ensure relationships are built, fostered and
appropriately leveraged.
