TITLE OF THE FILM
• THE TITLE OF THE FILM IS “FULL STOP”. THE SIMPLICITY OF THE TITLE KEEPS THE NAME OF THE
FILM VERY CLEAR AND STRAIGHTFORWARD. HOWEVER IT COMMUNICATES OTHER MESSAGES, A
FULL STOP IS A PUNCTUATION MARK USED TO INDICATE THE END OF A SENTENCE, THIS COULD
ALTERNATIVELY SIGNIFY THE END OF SOMEONE'S LIFE. WE THINK THIS IS A SUITABLE TITLE FOR
THE FILM AS IT FITS WELL WITH THE PLOT OF THE STORY AS WELL AS THE GENRE OF CRIME AND
MYSTERY. IT HOLDS A VERY INTERESTING MEANING WHICH IS VERY SINISTER AND DARK. IT HELPS
LET THE AUDIENCE ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT TYPE OF SEQUENCE IT’S GOING TO BE.
• COINCIDENTLY, THE FULL STOP IS NOT ONLY EMPHASISED IN THE TITLE, BUT IT IS ALSO
PORTRAYED ON BOTH OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS. THE WEALTHY LADY HAS A FULL STOP ON HER
ANKLE AND THE MURDERER HAS IT ON HIS WRIST. THIS COULD ACCENTUATE THE MEANING OF THE
FULL STOP.
LOCATION
• STREETS OF THE CITY- THE STREETS OF THE CITY IS ABLE TO CREATE AMBIGUITY TOWARDS THE MAIN
CHARACTER IN WHICH THE AUDIENCE IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHO IT IS. IT ALSO ESTABLISHES THE
SETTING AND THE CITY THAT THE FILM IS TAKING PLACE.
• ALLEYWAY OF COMPOUND- THE ALLEYWAY EMPHASIZES THE DANGER AND CREATES AN UNCOMFORTABLE
MOOD BECAUSE ALLEYWAYS OFTEN CONNOTE TO DANGER AND ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES. THEY ALSO CREATE A
SENSE OF CLAUSTROPHOBIA THAT PORTRAYS THE CHARACTERS AS ‘TRAPPED’ AND REFLECTS THAT
FEELING OF CONFINEMENT THROUGH TO THE AUDIENCE, ALLOWING THEM TO EMPATHISE.
• BROKEN WALLS IN ROOM- THIS COULD IMPLY THAT SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN OR HAD HAPPENED THAT
CREATED DESTRUCTION IN THE FILM. IT CREATES A SENSE OF UNEASE AND TENSION DUE TO THE CHAOS IT
PORTRAYS.
• HOTEL LOBBY (NEED FANCY CHANDELIER)- THIS IS MAINLY INCLUDED TO PORTRAY THE LADY'S (MAIN
CHARACTER) WEALTH AND COULD ALSO EMPHASIZE THE TWO EXTREMES OF STATUS. WE HAVE THE
MURDERER WHO LINGERS ON THE STREETS, AND A WEALTHY LADY WHO IS SURROUNDED BY HIGH CLASS
STATUS PEOPLE.
• INSIDE SKETCHY ROOMS- THIS ALSO PROVIDES AN UNEASY ATMOSPHERE FOR THE AUDIENCE AND
CREATES A SENSE OF MYSTERY AND FORESHADOWING BECAUSE THIS KIND OF SKETCHY ATMOSPHERE
IMPLIES THAT SOMETHING BAD WILL HAPPEN
• MALL- THIS KIND OF MODERN ATMOSPHERE HELPS BUILD UP THE WEALTHY CHARACTER OF THE WOMAN AS
WE CAN SHOW SCENES OF HER SHOPPING AT DESIGNER STORES AND CARRYING MANY HIGH END BAGS
WHICH WILL DISPLAY HER WEALTH

• OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS AIMED AT 15-40 YEAR OLDS
• TEENAGERS AS WELL AS ADULTS WILL STILL BE ENTERTAINED BY THIS KIND OF DRAMA
AND NOT CONSIDER IT TOO DRAMATIC OR TOO IMMATURE.
• THE ENIGMATIC FEATURES (EXP. TITLE) WILL ENGAGE THE VIEWERS OF ALL AGES
• HOWEVER, CERTAIN ELEMENTS OF THE OPENING SEQUENCE WILL ESPECIALLY APPEAL TO
14-50 YEAR OLDS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE SCENES IN THE HOTEL (TO BE DISCUSSED LATER)
WOULD INTEREST THIS AGE RANGE AS THEY MIGHT FIND ASPECTS OF IT INTRIGUING,
WHETHER IT BE THE MODERN DECOR OR THE PRESTIGIOUS ATMOSPHERE.
• THE OPENING SEQUENCE WOULD ALSO APPEAL TO BOTH GENDERS. IT IS GOING TO
CONTAIN FACTORS THAT WOULD APPEAL TO MEN, SUCH AS THE VIOLENT THEME, AND A
MYSTERIOUS THEME THAT WOULD APPEAL TO BOTH MEN AND WOMEN, FOR EXAMPLE.
CHARACTERS
• BOY (CRIMINAL); PLAYS A SLOUCHY MAN WHO IS BROKE AND SUFFERS FROM JEALOUSY OF THE
UPPER CLASS. THE AUDIENCE IS ABLE TO IDENTIFY THIS BECAUSE OF COSTUME AND THE FACT
THAT THERE HAS BEEN A MURDER. THE AUDIENCE WOULD TURN TO THE CHARACTER THAT IS
PORTRAYED AS SKETCHY WHEN TRYING TO IDENTIFY THE MURDERER.
• GIRL; PLAYS A WEALTHY WOMAN WHO IS MURDERED AND THE WHOLE STORY REVOLVES
AROUND SOLVING HER MURDER AND FINDING HER MURDERER, WHICH THE AUDIENCE ARE
INTRODUCED TO THROUGH THE USE OF ENIGMA CODES.
• IN THE OPENING SEQUENCE, WE AIM TO CREATE SUSPENSEFUL AND MYSTERIOUS ATMOSPHERE.
IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY CREATE THIS, WE WILL NOT PRESENT THE MAIN CHARACTER WHO
IS THE MURDERER IN THE FIRST TWO MINUTES. INSTEAD, THERE WILL BE HINTS AND SMALL
PARTS OF THE MURDERER PRESENTED TO CREATE A MYSTERIOUS ATMOSPHERE. THE
PROTAGONISTS BACK MAY BE SHOWN AD DIFFERENT PARTS OF HIS/HER BOY IS SHOWN
HOWEVER HIS/HER FACE WILL NOT BE PRESENTED. THE MURDERER IS KEPT AMBIGUOUS, HENCE
THE REST OF THE FILM BEING BASED ON WHO THE MURDERER REALLY IS AND WHY IS HE
COMMITTING THESE CRIMES. THIS WILL ALSO CREATE ENIGMA WHICH WILL DRAG THE
AUDIENCE'S ATTENTION AND THEY WILL WANT TO CONTINUE WATCHING TO FIND OUT WHO THE
MURDERER IS AND WHAT/HOW HE DID.
• THE BOY-PLAYED BY A TEENAGE BOY
• NOT CONFIRMED.THE WOMAN IS PLAYED BY A TEENAGE GIRL (CADY GHANDOUR).
COSTUME
• THE WOMAN WILL WEAR A FUR COAT, DIAMOND JEWELRY, RED LIPSTICK, BLACK DRESS, HEELS,
AND HER HAIR WILL BE DONE. THE RED LIPSTICK WILL SIGNIFY THE DEATH AND THE GORE, THIS
ULTIMATELY SETS THE TONE OF THE MOVIE AND CREATES ENIGMA.
• THE COLOUR SYMBOLISM OF THE RED LIPSTICK IS CLOSELY LINKED TO BLOOD AND THEREFORE
CREATES A TENSE ATMOSPHERE AND A SENSE OF FORESHADOWING AS THE AUDIENCE COULD
LINK THE COLOUR TO THE WOMAN’S DEATH, THAT WOULD’VE ALREADY OCCURED.
• THE WOMAN WILL HAVE A FULL STOP TATTOO ON HER ANKLE. THIS IS SIGNIFICANT IN THE REST
OF THE FILM AS IT TIES THE LINK BETWEEN THE MURDERER AND THE WEALTHY LADY.
• THE BOY WILL WEAR A BLACK HOODIE, BLACK SWEATPANTS AND BLACK SHOES, HE WILL ALSO
HAVE A FULL STOP TATTOO ON HIS WRIST.
GENRE
• THE MAIN GENRE OF OUR FILM/OPENING SEQUENCE IS CRIME OR CRIME MYSTERY. CRIME
MYSTERY TYPICALLY REVOLVES AROUND A CRIME, OFTEN A MURDER WHICH SEEMS
IMPOSSIBLE TO SOLVE. THIS SEEMINGLY UNSOLVABLE CRIME STES THINGS IN MOTION AND
THROWS THE STORY DOWN A PATH TO SOMEHOW FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED. SOMETIMES THE
CRIME TAKES PLACE VERY QUICKLY AND SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS SUBTLY THROUGHOUT THE
FILM. THE CRIME IS THE HEART OF THE STORY.
• THE CRIME IS THE HEART OF THE STORY AND IT’S SEEMINGLY UNSOLVABLE QUALITY HOOKS
THE READER AND THE PROTAGONIST. IT BECOMES THE DRIVING MOTOR OF THE FILM.
• AS THE PROTAGONIST BEGINS TO SOLVE THE CRIME, THE AUDIENCE BECOMES EVEN MORE
HOOKED INTO THE NARRATIVE OF THE FILM AS THEY ALMOST FEEL LIKE THEY ARE HELPING
THEM SOLVE IT.

CONSIDERATIONS
• WE INTEND TO INCLUDE AS MANY SHORT, CLOSE-UP SHOTS OF THE CHARACTERS TO GET THE
AUDIENCE FAMILIAR WITH THE MAIN CHARACTERS. CLOSE-UPS PROVIDE EXTREME DETAIL OF
VERY MINOR THINGS THAT MAY BE IMPORTANT TO THE FILM. FOR EXAMPLE, A CLOSE- UP SHOT
OF A SMALL TATTOO ON THE MAIN CHARACTERS ANKLE MAY BE SIGNIFICANT IN THE FILM. IT
COULD SIGNIFY THAT THE CHARACTER USED TO BE OR IS PART OF A SPECIFIC GROUP OF
PEOPLE.
• FAST EDIT CUTS WILL BE USED SUCH AS JUMP CUTS AND FAST CUTTING TO CREATE TENSION
AND GRAB THE AUDIENCE'S ATTENTION. SHORT CUTS AVOID TOO MUCH DETAIL IN ORDER TO
CREATE ENIGMA AND DROP HINTS THAT ULTIMATELY LEAVE THE AUDIENCE WANTING TO KNOW
MORE.

• OUR OWN INSTITUTION NAME IS CALLED “QUESTION MARK”. IT WOULD BE WRITTEN IN IN A
THRILLING FONT TO CONFORM TO THE MYSTERY GENRE. THE NAME OF THE INSTITUTION WOULD
BE WRITTEN INSIDE A MAGNIFYING GLASS TO EMPHASISE THE MYSTERY AS MAGNIFYING GLASS IS
A STEREOTYPICAL PROP USED IN INVESTIGATIONS AND THE PROCESS OF SOLVING A CRIME. IT IS
AN ELEMENT OF MISE-EN-SCENE PROPS WHICH ARE USED BY DETECTIVES IN FILMS. THE LOGO IS IN
BLACK AND WHITE TYPOGRAPHY TO CONTRAST THE DIFFERENT IDEAS OF INNOCENCE AND IMPURE
EVENTS AND CHARACTERS.
• THE CONCEPT OF THE INSTITUTION NAME BEING ‘QUESTION MARK’ CREATES A SENSE OF
PROFESSIONALISM AND COHESION AS OUR TITLE IS ‘FULL STOP’ AND THEREFORE BOTH OF THESE
BEING PUNCTUATION SYMBOLS MAKES IT ALL FLOW TOGETHER QUITE NICELY. ALSO, BOTH OF
THESE TITLES CREATES A SENSE OF ENIGMA CODES, BECAUSE THEY’RE NOT EXPLAINED YET
STRAIGHT TO THE POINT AND DON’T GIVE INSIGHT INTO THE OCCURANCES OF THE OPENING
SEQUENCE. AS WELL AS, THE INSTITUTION NAME OF QUESTION MARK FORESHADOWS THAT THERE
IS MYSTERY AND QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF AN ENIGMA CODE IN OUR
OPENING SEQUENCE AND WILL ENGAGE THE VIEWER AS WELL AS DRAW THEM IN TO WATCH.
FIRST 10 SECONDS
• PAN SHOT OF THE MAIN CHARACTER WHO IS KNOW TO BE THE WEALTHY LADY. THE CAMERA
WILL SCAN FROM HER FEET TO HER FACE. THIS WILL ALLOW THE AUDIENCE TO ESTABLISH
THE FACT THAT SHE IS WEALTHY BY FOCUSING ON WHAT SHE IS WEARING. THE AUDIENCE DO
NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE CHARACTER HOWEVER THIS CREATES ENIGMA BECAUSE THE
AUDIENCE ARE ONLY PRESENTED WITH A SHORT TAKE OF HER ENTIRE BODY.
• THE AUDIENCE SHOULD ALSO REALIZE THAT THE CHARACTER HAS A FULL STOP TATTOOED
ON HER LEG, THIS SHOULD BE FAMILIAR TO THE AUDIENCE LATER ON IN THE FILM. THE
AUDIENCE WILL UNDERSTAND THE RELEVANCE OF THE TATTOO WHEN THEY REALIZE THAT
THE CRIMINAL ALSO HAS IT.
THE NEXT 1 MINUTE
• A MONTAGE OF THE MURDERER, HOWEVER THE AUDIENCE DO NOT KNOW THAT HE IS THE MURDER.
HINTS ARE DROPPED THROUGHOUT THE MONTAGE IN ORDER TO EMPHASIZE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HIS
ROLE IN THE FILM. HIS FACE IS NEVER REVEALED HOWEVER PARTS OF HIS BODY SUCH AS HIS LEGS AND
HIS BACK ARE PRESENTED. THIS CREATES A SENSE OF AN EERIE TENSION.

• DURING THE PAN SHOT OF THE WOMEN WHO IS MURDERED, THERE WILL BE NON-DIEGETIC MUSIC. THE
MUSIC WILL BE BASED ON STEREOTYPICAL THRILLER MUSIC TO EMPHASIZE THE FACT THAT SOMETHING
VERY BAD HAS HAPPENED AND TO CREATE A SINISTER AND DEMONIC ATMOSPHERE.
• SOME CLIMACTIC MUSIC CAN BE PLAYED WHEN THE SHOT OF THE MURDERER WALKING IN THE
ALLEYWAY IS SHOWN TO BUILD UP TENSION THAT WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD UP TO THE CLIMAX.
• TRACES OF NON-DIEGETIC FAST PACED MUSIC IS DISPLAYED IN PARTS OF THE OPENING SEQUENCE IN
ORDER TO CREATE SUSPENSE AND TENSION. THIS ADDS TO THE MOOD OF THE FILM, REINFORCING
DRAMATIC EVENTS, DEVELOPMENTS AND ASPECTS OF THE CHARACTERS. THE USE OF FAST PACED

• DIVERSION: THE WEALTHY LIFE OF THE LEAD FEMALE CHARACTER WILL OFFER A SENSE OF
ESCAPISM AS THEY WILL FEEL AS THOUGH THEY’RE ENJOYING HER LUXURIOUS LIFE. ALSO THE
CLOSED-OFF AND QUIET LIFE OF THE BOY WILL OFFER A SENSE OF PEACE, PRIVACY AND SECURITY
FOR THE AUDIENCE TO ENJOY. IN ADDITION TO THIS, SINCE OUR TWO CHARACTERS HAVE VERY
CONTRASTING LIVES, THE VIEWER CAN CHOOSE WHICH CHARACTER TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES
WITH.
• INFORMATION: THE MAIN PURPOSE OF OUR FILM IS TOO ENHANCE THE VIEWING EXPERIENCE FOR
OUR VIEWERS AND ALLOW THEM TO FEEL EMOTION RATHER THAN GAIN KNOWLEDGE.
• PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS: WE AIM FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO CREATE RELATIONSHIPS WITH
OTHERS WHEN SHARING AND DISCUSSING THEIR OPINION ON OUR OPENING SEQUENCE.
• IDENTITY: ONE OF THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF OUR OPENING SEQUENCE IS TO ENABLE THE
AUDIENCE TO FEEL CLOSE AND IDENTIFY THEMSELVES WITH THE CHARACTER. WE AIM FOR THEM
TO BE ABLE TO SEE ASPECTS OF THEIR PERSONALITY AND LIVES WITHIN THE DEPICTION OF OUR

CLOSE-UPS PROVIDE EXTREME DETAIL OF VERY MINOR THINGS THAT MAY BE IMPORTANT TO THE FILM. FOR EXAMPLE, A CLOSE- UP SHOT OF A SMALL TATTOO ON THE MAIN CHARACTERS ANKLE MAY BE SIGNIFICANT IN THE FILM. IT COULD SIGNIFY THAT THE CHARACTER USED TO BE OR IS PART OF A SPECIFIC GROUP OF PEOPLE. • FAST EDIT CUTS WILL BE USED SUCH AS JUMP CUTS AND FAST CUTTING TO CREATE TENSION AND GRAB THE AUDIENCE'S ATTENTION. SHORT CUTS AVOID TOO MUCH DETAIL IN ORDER TO CREATE ENIGMA AND DROP HINTS THAT ULTIMATELY LEAVE THE AUDIENCE WANTING TO KNOW MORE.

THE NAME OF THE INSTITUTION WOULD BE WRITTEN INSIDE A MAGNIFYING GLASS TO EMPHASISE THE MYSTERY AS MAGNIFYING GLASS IS A STEREOTYPICAL PROP USED IN INVESTIGATIONS AND THE PROCESS OF SOLVING A CRIME. IT IS AN ELEMENT OF MISE-EN-SCENE PROPS WHICH ARE USED BY DETECTIVES IN FILMS. THE LOGO IS IN BLACK AND WHITE TYPOGRAPHY TO CONTRAST THE DIFFERENT IDEAS OF INNOCENCE AND IMPURE EVENTS AND CHARACTERS. • THE CONCEPT OF THE INSTITUTION NAME BEING ‘QUESTION MARK’ CREATES A SENSE OF PROFESSIONALISM AND COHESION AS OUR TITLE IS ‘FULL STOP’ AND THEREFORE BOTH OF THESE BEING PUNCTUATION SYMBOLS MAKES IT ALL FLOW TOGETHER QUITE NICELY. ALSO, BOTH OF THESE TITLES CREATES A SENSE OF ENIGMA CODES, BECAUSE THEY’RE NOT EXPLAINED YET STRAIGHT TO THE POINT AND DON’T GIVE INSIGHT INTO THE OCCURANCES OF THE OPENING SEQUENCE. AS WELL AS, THE INSTITUTION NAME OF QUESTION MARK FORESHADOWS THAT THERE IS MYSTERY AND QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF AN ENIGMA CODE IN OUR OPENING SEQUENCE AND WILL ENGAGE THE VIEWER AS WELL AS DRAW THEM IN TO WATCH.
  • 10. FIRST 10 SECONDS • PAN SHOT OF THE MAIN CHARACTER WHO IS KNOW TO BE THE WEALTHY LADY. THE CAMERA WILL SCAN FROM HER FEET TO HER FACE. THIS WILL ALLOW THE AUDIENCE TO ESTABLISH THE FACT THAT SHE IS WEALTHY BY FOCUSING ON WHAT SHE IS WEARING. THE AUDIENCE DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE CHARACTER HOWEVER THIS CREATES ENIGMA BECAUSE THE AUDIENCE ARE ONLY PRESENTED WITH A SHORT TAKE OF HER ENTIRE BODY. • THE AUDIENCE SHOULD ALSO REALIZE THAT THE CHARACTER HAS A FULL STOP TATTOOED ON HER LEG, THIS SHOULD BE FAMILIAR TO THE AUDIENCE LATER ON IN THE FILM. THE AUDIENCE WILL UNDERSTAND THE RELEVANCE OF THE TATTOO WHEN THEY REALIZE THAT THE CRIMINAL ALSO HAS IT.

HINTS ARE DROPPED THROUGHOUT THE MONTAGE IN ORDER TO EMPHASIZE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HIS ROLE IN THE FILM. THE MUSIC WILL BE BASED ON STEREOTYPICAL THRILLER MUSIC TO EMPHASIZE THE FACT THAT SOMETHING VERY BAD HAS HAPPENED AND TO CREATE A SINISTER AND DEMONIC ATMOSPHERE. • SOME CLIMACTIC MUSIC CAN BE PLAYED WHEN THE SHOT OF THE MURDERER WALKING IN THE ALLEYWAY IS SHOWN TO BUILD UP TENSION THAT WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD UP TO THE CLIMAX. • TRACES OF NON-DIEGETIC FAST PACED MUSIC IS DISPLAYED IN PARTS OF THE OPENING SEQUENCE IN ORDER TO CREATE SUSPENSE AND TENSION. THIS ADDS TO THE MOOD OF THE FILM, REINFORCING DRAMATIC EVENTS, DEVELOPMENTS AND ASPECTS OF THE CHARACTERS. THE USE OF FAST PACED MUSIC ALLOWS THE AUDIENCE TO ESTABLISH THE ATMOSPHERE, TIME , PLACE AND GENRE.

ALSO THE CLOSED-OFF AND QUIET LIFE OF THE BOY WILL OFFER A SENSE OF PEACE, PRIVACY AND SECURITY FOR THE AUDIENCE TO ENJOY. IN ADDITION TO THIS, SINCE OUR TWO CHARACTERS HAVE VERY CONTRASTING LIVES, THE VIEWER CAN CHOOSE WHICH CHARACTER TO IDENTIFY THEMSELVES WITH. • INFORMATION: THE MAIN PURPOSE OF OUR FILM IS TOO ENHANCE THE VIEWING EXPERIENCE FOR OUR VIEWERS AND ALLOW THEM TO FEEL EMOTION RATHER THAN GAIN KNOWLEDGE. • PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS: WE AIM FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO CREATE RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS WHEN SHARING AND DISCUSSING THEIR OPINION ON OUR OPENING SEQUENCE. • IDENTITY: ONE OF THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF OUR OPENING SEQUENCE IS TO ENABLE THE AUDIENCE TO FEEL CLOSE AND IDENTIFY THEMSELVES WITH THE CHARACTER.
