This document summarizes information about COVID-19. It defines coronaviruses and COVID-19, lists common symptoms, and explains how COVID-19 spreads through small droplets from coughs or sneezes. It describes what happens inside the body when infected and damages caused. The document aims to make COVID-19 a slow pandemic by preventing infection and spreading. It promotes handwashing, social distancing, and staying home. Myths about COVID-19 are presented, and it is noted that currently there are no licensed drugs to treat or prevent COVID-19. References are included from organizations like WHO.

5. Common symptoms: Some people may
experience:
On average it takes
5ā6 days from when
someone is infected
with the virus for
symptoms to show,
however it can take
up to 14 days.
People with mild
symptoms who are
otherwise healthy
should self-isolate.
Seek medical
attention if you have
a fever, a cough, and
difficulty breathing.

6. People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus.
How does COVID 19 spread?
The disease spreads primarily from person to
person through small droplets from the nose or
mouth, which are expelled when a person with
COVID-19 coughs, sneezes, or speaks. People
can catch COVID-19 if they breathe in these
droplets from a person infected with the virus
This is why it is important to stay at
least 1 metre (3 feet) away from others.
These droplets can land on objects and
surfaces around the person such as tables,
doorknobs and handrails. People can become
infected by touching these objects or surfaces,
then touching their eyes, nose or mouth.
Discussed again in the succeding slidesā¦
7. If you have minor
symptoms, such as a
slight cough or a
mild fever, there is
generally no need to
seek medical care.
Stay at home, self-
isolate and monitor
your symptoms.

should I seek medical care?
8. What happens iniside the body of a
person with COVID 19?
A virus is a non living thing that can
reproduce by entering a living cell.
the cell receive

10. COVID 19 is a āpandemicā
The aim is to make it a
slow pandemic.
How?
Goals:
1. Not getting infected
2. Not infecting others
11. HANDWASHING
A virus is structured as to
having a protective layer of fat.
Guess what?
Soap breaks this
fat, and water
physically drives
them away!
SOCIAL DISTANCING
Stay at least 1 metre (3
feet) away from others
Goals:
1. Not getting infected
2. Not infecting others
12. ā¢ It is important
to wash your
hands regularly
with soap and
water or clean
with alcohol-
based hand rub.

treatment or prevention of COVID-19.

Being able to hold your breath for 10 seconds
or more without coughing or feeling discomfort
means you are free from the coronavirus
disease (COVID-19) or any other lung disease.
17. COVID-19 virus cannot be transmitted in areas with
hot and humid climates.
Cold weather and snow can kill the new
coronavirus.
18. Taking a hot bath does not prevent the new
coronavirus disease.
Hand dryers are effective in killing the new
coronavirus.
19. Eating garlic helps prevent infection with the new
coronavirus.
Antibiotics are effective in preventing and
treating the new coronavirus.
20. Thermal scanners are effective in detecting people
infected with the new coronavirus.
Vaccines against pneumonia DOES NOT protect
you against the new coronavirus.
21. The new coronavirus affect older people and younger
people are also susceptible.

higher than 25C degrees prevents the coronavirus
disease (COVID-19).

disinfectant into your body WILL protect you against
COVID-19.
Adding pepper to your soup or other meals
prevents/cures COVID-19.
23. The new coronavirus can be transmitted
through mosquito bites.
Ultra-violet (UV) lamps should not be used
to disinfect hands or other areas of your
skin
24. Regularly rinsing your nose with saline help
prevent infection with the new coronavirus.
