2. Target Audiences
Identify your priority audiences and
then determine which media outlets
will reach those audiences. Are you
targeting local businesses? Then pitch
local business journals in key
markets. Consumer audiences? TV
is an effective reach for consumers.
Potential investors? Look at the trade
media in you vertical and business or
entrepreneur publications.
Timing
Before you start your outreach, make
sure you’re in a position where you
are comfortable talking about your
venture and have news to share. You
should also think about news and
business trends that will make your
story pertinent to the media.
These items will get you started in
considering your plan
for PR outreach. It’s also important to
have clear concise messaging going
into any marketing outreach,
including PR, and a strong
spokesperson that can tell your story
in a compelling manner.

relations outreach, contact

MARKETING ADVICE
Public relations, specifically pitching
stories to reporters, is one of the best
ways to raise awareness and establish
credibility for a new company. But
like any marketing tactic, PR should
be a piece of your strategic plan –
looking closely at timing, target
audiences and business objectives
before you start your outreach.
Business Objectives
Every marketing plan should be
pinned to your business goals
and PR is no exception. What are
you’re trying to accomplish – is it
awareness, leadership profiling,
credibility? Then, PR is a tool you
should consider.

MENTORSHIP MATTERS
Do you need an investor to sign an
NDA?
The short answer is...not if they are a
professional.
If they do investing on a regular basis
and you ask them to sign an NDA,
what it is going to show them is that
you don't know the business.
In my experience, no reputable
investor or money manager would
ever put their reputation on the line
to steal your idea.
That's the first thing you've got to
know.
JANUARY 2020 PAGE | 03
Remember, they listen to 100 ideas a
month and many of them are great
ideas, but they are looking for places
to invest.
"It is really difficult for investors to
find good investments." says Alex
Chompff.
To the entrepreneur it might look like
there is a shortage of cash and capital
is hard to get.
But that's just not the case. Capital is
plentiful in this market and has been
for many years.
Capital needs a place to go and you
are the place they are looking for.
We don't recommend asking a
professional investor to sign an NDA
as they just aren't going to do it.
There are a number of reasons, but
the main reason is...it isn't necessary.
