Liberal Studies
Narrative Paper
My first major when I got to Frostburg was Health and Physical Education, but this past
year I decided to switch to Liberal Studies. The reason why I switched is so I could learn a little
bit more about myself, and learn more about how to prepare myself for the real world when I
graduate in the fall. I am hoping this major will help me learn how to better communicate to
future employers and any one that I will meet later on in life.
I have taken a lot of teaching courses to help me reach my curricular goals. I would create
lesson plans and act on them at a local school or my peers for either Health or a Physical
Education, and this helped me learn more with the hands-on experience for teaching. Now that I
have switched my major to Liberal Studies, I plan on setting goals to help me better prepare
myself for the real world. While in this class, I hope to reach my goals of learning how to better
communicate and know how to handle social situations better than I do now.
I plan on professionally applying this course work after college by hoping it will help me
find a job in the education department, and also to help with teaching future students better. I
believe that this course will help me in many different aspects of the real world. This being how
to communicate, how to present myself better in social situations, and how to act more as a
professional myself.
This is my first time starting this class, but I have heard a lot of positive things from
people who have taken this course. I hope that by the end of fall semester, I can say that I learned
2. everything I wanted to by taking this class and that I will feel more prepared for the real world
and know that my communication skills have improved and will most definitely help me for my
future career.
