● How did Cloud Housing emerge?
Reading a book on the G8 made me more aware of how our current industrial society works and I thought
that while there are many developments in housing and other areas of our daily life, they are struggling to
reach the end user and so I wondered how I could make them more accessible in order to improve the lives
of people.
We are living in the era of communication and networking, and I realized that the most common need we all
have is to have a place to live and so the idea of Cloud Housing, a model for sustainable habitat and a
facilitator for the paradigm shift was born.
Cloud Housing is a new concept that promotes flexibility to approach real-estate market to people needs
finding a sustainable solution about the housing crisis. The CH key point is the restoration of existing
buildings to combine apartments, common spaces and services for users with a pay per use model,
creating life places (buildings, neighborhoods, communities) that work as linked collaborative economies
and societies, where its members may provide and benefit from these resources. The common spaces
acquire a special relevance being designed to adapt private, common and public activities to real needs.
This is why the community participates in the specific design and program definition and has its own
management, maintenance and finance tools.
● The organization of the building is based on three concepts:
Residence spaces :
They adapt to the needs of people during their lifetime.
The common areas:
They differ in two, some are only for residents, who can develop different activities, like tending to the
garden, sunbathing, having meals outdoors, washing ... They facilitate sociability and collaboration.
The other common public spaces respond to the needs of the CH users’ partners. People from the
neighborhood, the city or other countries, who are not residents but can benefit from the facilities of the
public spaces
Infrastructure:
Services include energy, water, cleaning, recycling, storage for the buying club. There could also be DIY
activities such as small repairs, furniture assembly, bicycle maintenance, arranging parties and
celebrations…
Thus CH integrates everything that is necessary for our daily family and professional life activity. The
networking within the building and with other buildings offers the facility to be connected and to perform
our daily activities in a more sustainable and effective way.
The CH is a model of social development and not just a building for living, promotes environmental
sustainability and maximizes the resources.
● What makes it different from other models is:
An investor who is committed to innovation and is socially responsible.
A managerin the building, who coordinates the maintenance and the common aspects of the building.
Pay for use, people are neither tenants nor owners, are users.

7.
Replicableas a global network of buildings throughout the territory.
All of this certified under the brand Cloud Housing for an easier life.
● We have 6 key players in its development:
CH Platform.(www.cloudhousing.org)
This is the network of professionals in charge of managing all the knowledge related to the development of
the model. This platform is the place par excellence of communication that enables the exchange of
experience, the detection of new solutions and models of social housing innovation, etc..
The investor
The investor contributes to an engine for the progress or society. The investment can also improve the
quality of management and hence the profitability of properties in the short, medium and long term.
The manager
CH involves a qualitative way of management, based on people and the adaptation of social innovation
solutions to the specific context of each community and building.
Local Agency (for ex. Agenda 21)
A local agency, formed by people with professional qualifications in the subject of sustainable development
and knowledge of the local context of the buildings involved, has a role in facilitating the progressive
integration of the Cloud Housing model.
Providers
They find a new channel to distribute their services or products. Procurement or purchases in bulk can help
to set new commercial relationships with regular and consistent customers. It can also simplify certain
comunal tasks such as maintenance or administrative management.
User
The user benefits from services and housing appropriate and adaptable to their needs and possibilities.
The user may be involved in different initiatives of social housing innovation.
● Who are the potential investors?.
Public administrations, responding to the citizens’ needs for affordable and sustainable housing
Financial Institutions
As a way to make use of the empty buildings that are part of their active whilst investing in a project with
RSC
Foundations and ONG, CH can help them in developing their projects, like helping people disadvantaged
by poverty or natural disasters.
Leaseholders CH helps with the maintenance of the building whilst making disused spaces profitable.
Society is prepared for this paradigm shift and Cloud Housing adapts as life is changing.
