Real Life Situation
If you are participating in a Multiple Choice Question competition, they
would usually have some questions for you to answer. If you get it
correct, you get some points; if you got it wrong, you would lose some
points. They will also not show you how many question you got correct.
In a competition, there are 40 questions. If you got it correct, you will
get 2 points; if you got it wrong, you will lose 1 point. Now, if you are
curious about how well you done in the competition, you can use
simultaneous linear equation to find out. So, if you got a total point of
50 points,how many questions did you get correct?
First, to solve this, we must form the 2 equation. Take C as correct and
W as wrong. There are 40 questions altogether, so, C+W=40
You will gain 2 point if you got it correct and lose 1 point if you got it
wrong, you got 50 points altogether, so 2C-W=50
Now, we got our 2 equations, so, to find how many questions you get
correct and how many questions you got wrong, we have to solve it
(2C-W)+(C+W)=3C=90
C=90/3=30
W=40-30=10
So, you got 30 questions correct and 10 questions wrong
