Montseny Natural Park <ul><li>It’s located in the mountain range west of the coastal hills north of Barcelona. </li></ul><ul><li>It has the highest mountains in the south area of the Pyrenees . </li></ul><ul><li>UNESCO designated Montsenny a biosphere reserve in 1978 and the regional government designated it a natural park in 1987. </li></ul><ul><li>The highest peak is Turó de l’Home. </li></ul><ul><li>The park is home to a variety of Mediterranean and Alpine fauna. There are also a large number of megalithic structures in the park. </li></ul>

Montserrat Mountain <ul><li>Montserrat is a multi-peaked mountain located near the city of Barcelona. </li></ul><ul><li>It is part of the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range. </li></ul><ul><li>&quot;Montserrat&quot; literally means &quot;jagged (serrated) mountain&quot; in Catalan . It describes the peculiar aspect of the rock formation which can be seen from a long distance. The mountain is composed of strikingly pink conglomerate, a form of sedimentary rock. </li></ul>

Ebro's Delta <ul><li>The Ebro Delta is the largest wetland area in Catalonia, with a surface of 320 square km. </li></ul><ul><li>It is one of the most important aquatic habitats in the western Mediterranean. The delta has 325 of the 600 bird species existing in Europe. </li></ul><ul><li>The Natural Park of the Ebro Delta is located at the mouth of the River Ebro in Tarragona province. </li></ul><ul><li>It was declared a protected area in 1983. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>The combination of a very good summer climate, nature, excellent beaches is one of the characteristics of this part of Spain. </li></ul><ul><li>La Costa Brava begins at rock La Palomera (Blanes) and ends at the border with France. Its length is over 200 km . </li></ul><ul><li>It includes the three coastal counties: La Selva, Baix Empordà and Alt Empordà. There are beautiful beaches such as Cadaqués, Port de la Selva, Roses, Castelló d'Ampuries, San Pedro Pescador, Pals Bagur or San Feliu de Guixols. </li></ul>C osta Brava

Rice from the Ebro Delta <ul><li>The Ebro Delta agriculture is a major economic basis, with a clear predominance of rice. </li></ul><ul><li>There are about 1,500 varieties, which differ depending on the length of the grains: short or round, medium and long. </li></ul><ul><li>The rice cycle requires periodic flooding of a large amount of surface delta (40%). </li></ul>

Pyrenees <ul><li>The Pyrenees are a range of mountains in the north of the Iberian Peninsula and around the isthmus that joins Europe. </li></ul><ul><li>They have a length of about 425 km and a width of around 100 km. </li></ul><ul><li>The Central Pyrenees extend westward from the Aran Valley to the Somport pass, and they include the highest summits, such as Pico d’Aneto (3,404 metres). </li></ul><ul><li>The Pyrenees is a unique place for the contemplation of animal species. </li></ul><ul><li>The legendary brown bear stands out among the 200 animal species that live in the mountains, although its population barely reaches 25 copies. </li></ul>

Vilanova <ul><li>Vilanova i la Geltrú has got a population of 66,532 inhabitants. </li></ul><ul><li>It is situated 46 km from Barcelona in the region of the Garraf. </li></ul><ul><li>There are traditional and popular festivals. Among them: the Three Tombs, Carnival, the Festa Major,etc... </li></ul><ul><li>Vilanova i la Geltrú's economy includes textile and paper industries. It also has iron foundries and an important agricultural sector. The harbour has a lifeboat station and the headquarters of a large fishing fleet. </li></ul>
