The idea of the Integrated Tourist Region
The identification of the (tourist) region as a whole began in 1960s. That was exactly when regional
organisations started to communicate the region’s benefits by means of printed content such as
leaflets, posters, folders and press ads. Then, in the late 90s and early 00s, regions went online to
spread the information using websites and later on mobile apps.
Today, in order to meet the increasing tourist expectations and to work for the benefit of the region
as a whole, it is crucial to integrate all the data sources and turn them into revenue-driving
valuable information. All to reinforce the regional innovation capacity to facilitate investments
based on open innovation infrastructure.

aggregates and gives value to information for the benefit of the tourist and all other

The idea of the Integrated Tourist Region
An Integrated Tourist Region is based on data processing, currently displayed
on mobile app, digital signage monitors (DOOH) and hospitality TV system.
The goals of Integrated Tourist Region are tripartite:
• benefits for the visitors,
• benefits for the regional participants (local business and organisations),
• benefits for the region as a whole.
