the neighbouring department store.RFR, along with Hamburg-based
developer DC Values and Deutsche Rück, had acquired the site at Zeil
112-114 in the spring of 2014. In addition to the Kaufhof area, three
stores with show windows facing Zeil will be created. The Zeilgalerie,
formerly one of the prestige properties of Jürgen Schneider, has long
been considered unmarketable due to the poor layout of its 11,220
square metres of retail space. Renovations, like those last made by
IFM, apparently cannot change this.

to the district and thus add value for residents. The previous tenants

oldest landmark building, Eschenheim tower. Suspended from the
ceilings and mounted onto the walls, circular placards supporting lighting
fixtures for home, office and outdoors appear throughout the store’s
two levels. The location marks the company’s seventh showroom to
open in Germany.
HAMBURG
Hamburg to get impressive mall Uberseequartier
Uberseequartier will be a big new shopping and leisure destination
in the south side of the German city of Hamburg. It will cover 184,000
square metres, including 190 stores, entertainment, hotel, office and
residential space. There will also be a bus terminal connected to the mall.
Among these stores will be some new international premium brands. The
overall investment in this new complex is a total of 860 million Euros. It is
estimated that work will be finished on the Uberseequartier development
by the second half of 2021. The centre is modern, international and
a little bit upscale although still mass market. Zara, H&M and “iconic
brands” that are still to be defined will be present in the new mall. The
mall will have a “glass roof at 15 metres high”, which will give it an
“iconic design” with organically shaped iconic shop-fronts which offer
“something really surprising”. There will also be a “big part dedicated
to entertainment and leisure”, in a similar way to the same company’s
Mall of Scandinavia. Small local brands and big international brands will
both be included to let the centre “have the right mix”, with American
and Asian brands possibly represented.
