2. STAKEHOLDERS COMMITMENTS
- Foster open and creative dialogue by youth in the home, work place, online,
and in public forums.
• Allow young people to express themselves at home, in school, in public forums.
• Continue advocacy efforts on comprehensive development of young people
• Enhance SRHR literacy among youth through comprehensive, correct
information so they can be well-informed on SRHR related topics.
• Establish networks with a focus on youth in order to address HIV-related issues.
• Consult youth in the process development and implementation for programs
that aim to educate young people.
• Include parents in SRHR education and encourage them to take full
responsibility for their children’s health, particularly when it comes to child sexual
abuse.
• Introduce compulsory sex education curriculum in schools
• Protect and promote the rights of sexual minorities in Kenya
- There is thus a real need to foster open & creative dialogue by young people
and listen more intently to young people’s ideas and concerns in terms of SRHR.
3. #IYD2013
- Building on these findings & recommendations, LVCT &
other HIVOS partners of connecting youth voices
project invite you to join in drawing out participation
for the #IYD2013 (August 12th) and National Youth
Month (August 2013)
- The overall objective is to create and curate creative
content on AYSRHR for utilization by researchers, policy
makers, programmers and key stakeholders in taking
steps to address the issues.
- The desired outcome is greater visibility of youth in
addressing their own issues through an enabling
environment/platform where they can bring forward
and/or openly discuss taboo breaking issues relating
to sex and SRH rights.

7. • Children are very often victims of domestic and/or
sexual violence in the texts. The authors too often
convey the idea that children should be submissive
and not disclose to anyone that they were molested
out of love for their parents.
