commercialisation

Journey so far….
….is known to a few and shortly will be known to
many with the deliveries planned soon!
™
Our thoughts go farther in personal mobility…
But we understand the following:
• 83% of personal travel is by automobile in the US
• 4.8 tn kms a year; on 6.5 mn kms of roads;
Consuming 180 billion gallons of fuel per annum
from 170,000 service stations
• The emerging markets are not far behind….China will
overtake US by 2030 and India….maybe the neck to
neck with China by 2050
™
Our thoughts go farther in personal mobility…
But we understand the following:
• Worldwide we consume about 18 mn barrels of oil
every day; emitting 2.7 bn tonnes of Co2
• Roadway collisions claim 1.2mn lives every year
• and in dense city centres the urban average speed
falls well under 20 kms per hour
™
™
™
But….the discovery of
crude oil in Oklahoma &
Texas saw gasoline
emerge as preferred fuel
™
™
And now….

Current DNA New DNA
Mechanical driven Electrically driven
Powered by Internal Combustion Engine Powered by electric motors
Energized by petroleum Energized by electricity & hydrogen
Mechanically controlled Electronically controlled
Stand-alone operation Intelligent & interconnected
Why electric???
COMFORTABLE, CHEAP AND DEFENITELY FASTER THAN A CAR AROUND TOWN

Editor's Notes

  1. Scale and scope of automotive transportation system and the freedom and prosperity its provides are impressive.
  2. But this amazing flexibility drives considerable cost and inefficiency (mass, space, and energy) into the vehicle and plays a role in creating the difficulties of dependence on imported oil; air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions; fatalities and injuries to drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and other road users, traffic congestion; inefficient land use; and access disadvantages for those without cars. These difficulties are amplified in cities where congestion is worst, parking space is limited, and pedestrian and cyclist accidents are a significant issue. In short….the vehicles used and operated is overengineered.
  3. Current DNA has been dramatic & evolutionary over the last 100 odd years; enhancement of power, easier to drive and control, safer, more energy efficient and more environment friendly. Typical automobile weights 20 times as much as its driver, can travel 450+ kms without refueling; attain top speeds of 160+ kmph, requires 100 sqft. for parking but is parked more than 90% of the time. Its critical to accept that SUSTAINABILITY is the new MANTRA.
  4. Does anyone recognise the top picture? Its New Delhi and its not a foggy morning.
