3. The Budget broadly focused on 10 themes viz.
agriculture, rural population, the youth, the poor to
name a few.
Allocation for rural sector for fiscal year 2018 is
1,87,223cr which is a record and represents an
increase by 24%
Under MNREGA increased from 38500cr to 48000cr
4. 1 crore houses to be completed by 2019 for houseless
and those living in 'kacha' houses
To develop Five lakh farm ponds will be taken up
under the MGNREGA.
To increase women participation in MGNREGA up
to 55%.
5. Space technology will be used in a big way to ensure
MGNREGA works.
Will allocate Rs. 19,000 crore for Pradhan Mantri
Gram Sadak Yojana in 2017-18.
To achieve 100% rural electrification by March
2018.
6. Swachh Bharat mission has made tremendous
progress; sanitation coverage has gone up from 42%
in Oct 13 to 60% now.
Open defecation free villages are now being given
priority for pipe to water supply.
To provide safe drinking water to 28,000 arsenic and
fluoride affected habitations.
7. Sanitation coverage in villages has increased
from 42 percent in October 2016 to 60 percent,
a rise of 18 percent.
To construct one crore houses by 2019 for
homeless. PM Awas Yojana allocation raised
from Rs 15,000 crore to Rs 23,000 crore
8. Rs 500 crore allocated to set up Mahila Shakti
Kendras, Allocation raised from Rs 1.56 lakh
crore to Rs 1.84 lakh crore for women and
child welfare.
9. 100% electrification target will ensure that maximum
houses in the rural areas will be electrified at least.
Participation of women in employment is enhanced
because of the reservation provided in the budget.
Sanitation in the rural areas will be improved
10. No Action Plan for Job creation – Biggest Issue in
India is creating jobs for 45 crore youth. Govt. has
failed to do so in last 2 year’s and this year also there
was lack of vision in this regard.
