IT IS OF SPIRAL TYPE IN WHICH AREA OF
FLOW INCREASES GRADUALLY. INCREASE
IN AREA ,VELOCITY OF FLOW DECREASES
HENCE INCREASES PRESSURE OF FLOWING
WATER THROUGH CASING
VORTEX CASING
IT IS A CIRCULER CHAMBER INTROUDUCED
BETWEEN CASING AND IMPELLER . BY DOING
THIS FORMATION OF EDDIES IS REDUCED TO A
CONSIDERABLE EXTENT HENCE MORE
EFFICIENCY THAN VOLUTE CASING
CASING WITH GUIDE
VANES
IN THIS IMPELLER IS SURROUNDED BY A SERIES OF GUIDE
VANES MOUNTED ON A RING KNOWN AS DIFFUSER. GUIDE
VANES ARE DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT WATER FROM
IMPELLER ENTERS THE GUIDE VANES WITHOUT SHOCK. ALSO
AREA OF GUIDE VANES INCREASES THUS REDUCES VELOCITY
AND INCREASES PRESSURE

ROATING PART OF PUMP IS KNOWS AS IMPELLER
.IT CONSIST OF A SERIES OF BACKWORD CURVED
VANES .IMPELLER IS MOUNTED ON A SHAFT
WHICH IS CONNECTED TO A SHAFT OF AN
ELECTRIC MOTOR

2-CLOSED IMPELLER
BEARING HOUSES
IT HOUSES THE BEARING FOR THE PUMP AND
SUPPORTS THE ROTOR ASSEMBLY . IT COMPRISES
OF A COOLING JACKET AND PROVIDES SPACE FOR
LUBRICATING OIL FOR BEARING
SLEEVES & BUSHES
SLEEVES ARE FITTED ON THE SHAFT TO PROTECT IT
FROM DIRECT CORROSION.SO IT ROTATING MEMBER
BUSHES ARE FITTED ON CASING
SLEEVES ARE MADE HARDER MATERIAL THAN BUSHES
GASKETS
GASKTES ARE USED TO PREVENT LEAKAGE
MAIN PURPOSE IS SEALING SO THAT NO
PRESSURE DROP

NET SUCTION POSITIVE HEAD AVAILABLE IS VERY

AND OTHER END DELIVERS THE WATER AT A REQUIRED
HEIGHT IS KNOWNS AS DELIVERY PIPE
WORKING OF
CENTRIFUGAL PUMPCENTRIFUGAL PUMP WORKS ON THE PRINCIPLE THAT WHEN A CERTAIN
MASS OF LIQUID IS MADE TO ROTATE ALONG THE IMPELLER ,IT
IMPRESSES A CENTRIFUGAL HEAD .IT CAUSES THE WATER TO MOVE
RADIALLY OUTWARDS AT HIGHER VELOCITY AND CAUSES THE WATER
TO RISE TO A HIGHER LEVEL .THE MOTION OF WATER IS RESTICATED BY
CASING OF PUMP ,IT RESULTS INTO PRESSURE BUILD UP.IN ADDITION
,THE CHANGE IN ANGULAR MOMENTUM OF LIQUID DURING ITS FLOW
RESULTS INTO INCREASE IN PRESSURE HEAD
