Cornell Method And Organized Schedule
The two strategies I will be focusing on in future in college is the Cornell method and an organized schedule for my assignments. These strategies
have helped me to be successful in my first semester of college so I would like to use it for my future in college. The reason the Cornell method and
an organized schedule are important to me because they save me time and work. The Cornell method is really good for note–taking. People are not
gonna be able to attain every bit of information the professor presents to us. The Cornell method helps you get the important information that the
professor presents to us in a small bit of written information. You can be able to write it down and not miss anything while you are in class. An
organized schedule

How My Writing Has Changed Essay
My writing styles have changed drastically over the past four years of high school. This memo will explain how my writing has changed and how my
knowledge of writing has improved.
Aspects of My Writing during High School
During my English courses throughout high school, I learned many things from writing simple journals, research papers, and a single term paper.
During high school, I was laid back and procrastinated for much of my work. During the latter part of high school when I wrote my term paper my
senior year, I found out that working a little every night writing a few paragraphs helped me out greatly. I was not just throwing something together just
to get the grade and the paper finished. I spent time on the paper and...show more content...
I do this so the information is true, and also in order from which events have occurred. When I wrote my term paper my senior year I was well
organized. I was required to write about an event in history. I chose India Uprising of 1877 as the topic of my paper. This topic was not interesting at
all, but I chose to write about it. When I finished writing my thesis and outline, I wrote note cards about the different topics, which allowed me to
gather all my information and organize it in which different events occurred. When I was finished with the paper, it sounded and read consistently and
it all flowed together.
How These Experiences Prepared Me for College Writing
I have written many different types of papers for all of my classes throughout high school. For my science classes, I have written several labs in the
form of essays. Writing the essays was different for me because I did not really know that science had much to do with writing. It took me a while to
gather all the information I needed to finish my lab assignments. Writing lab reports will definitely help me in my science courses in the next four years.
The journals I have written came from my four years of high school English. Everyday I came to class there would be a topic on the board. I took five
minutes each day to write about the given topic. It was brainstorming and giving our input on whatever the topic was. I think

Reflection On Eportfolio
Welcome to my eportfolio, here you will find an in–depth analysis about my WOVE experiences in English250. By creating my eportfolio I have
learned my weaknesses and strengths within my written, oral, visual, and electronic communication modes. When you begin exploring my portfolio, I
will be sharing with you on how I have grown within the WOVE areas this semester.
Here is a brief overview of what you can find on my eportfolio. The menu section that is located at the top of the website can be easily used to
navigate my introductory, about me, WOVE, reflection, and closing pages. These pages can also be easily accessed on the contents which is located
at the top right side of each page. The WOVE page has a drop–down box menu that contains my written communication, and OVE communication
modes. Also, the reflection page has a drop–down box menu that contains my reflection on my written revision, reflection on OVE artifact, and Special
reflection about E. The closing page will contain my final closing reflection and my about me page, will personally tell you more about myself.
My composing techniques have slightly changed since I began this course, I learned the important aspects of using a rough draft. At the beginning of
this semester I would spend more time writing down my thoughts on a paper then organizing my thoughts within the rough draft. I learned that it is
ineffective for me to just write down my ideas on a paper with no purpose because I tend to jumble my words. By

My Video Editing Experience
A long time I decided to live the zombie life as a video editor and during that time I had to experience a lot of workflow to get good at it. In the
beginning of learning it was difficult and there were so many different programs to edit with, but during the time I did not know about which were
professional or not. For example, when I first started I used a program called Window Movie Maker, and without doubt it was not very useful since
there were only limited tools that the program holds; Since I did not know any better at the time I easily continued to work with the program for a
couple months, which was the most difficult start of my experience. For example, there were obstacles such as slow render, 15 effects or less, and
very rigid transitions from clips to clips. When it came to actual editing, I was amateurish as well, but that's normal for anyone that's new to a hobby
that they want to learn by experience; The way I synched the lyrics or beats to my clips were off at first, as well as the quality, which was poor. In
fact, I did not even know how to discover a source to download the type of footage I worked with at the time. After 3 or 4 months of editing, I
finally made my first friend that does the same hobby as me, and he then helped me locate high quality clips. My friend was from Germany and of
course I was from the United States, so we both helped each other grow as editors as time passed, even as it was difficult we had fun

The Read section offered many great tips that I will apply this week. Two tips that are most important to me are analytical thinking and effective
communication. Analytical thinkers find importance in the smallest of things. It also pointed out, comparing new things to the old, I will easily apply
this to this week and well as future weeks. When I'm able to compare the new with the old, it helps me contain information better. Effective
communication will be important for me, this week and going forward. I will start to apply effective communication by expressing my ideas as well as
listening to the ideas of my classmates. I've learned that listening is an important key in communicating. Another tip that the Read pointed out was
having a willingness and opportunity to learn. I am open to any suggestions, criticism, and new ideas that are presented to me. Hi Jolita, You pointed
out great tips from the Read.I am big on asking questions, when I don't fully understand something. I've grown to believe that there is no such thing as

Online Learning Log Analysis
I especially admire how it is suggested that in our virtual campus we do not need to get dressed, hire a babysitter, drive to class, find a parking
space, go to class to earn a degree (Bethel, 2014, p.4). However, we do have to put in time to read our material that is provided to us (READ
section), watch a video in our ATTEND section, complete our assignments and communicate with our fellow classmates. Just because we are not
being present in a classroom we still have to do the work to earn our grades. The best tip from our Read section, I think, is to pay attention to word
count requirements and also to treat the Discuss forum with seriousness because it is apart of our academic learning. I always copy and paste
assignment instructions into Google Doc to begin my thinking, research, writing and proofreading. Making time to read and do the assignments is
another great tip I am going to use. Planning out a specific time and place for me to adhere to my online learning schedule is how I will apply this
and make myself be aware of my time being used with the thought of working towards my goals.

Are you going to personally try to adhere to all of the tips that our Read section suggests? I think that my main concern is paying attention to citing
references used correctly, time management and deadlines, and paying very close attention to word counts. Yes, these things are common sense, to
a certain degree. I feel that academic writing is something nobody is blessed with because it is something we learn. I try to refer to the Purdue
/OWL website to help me sometimes. A newly suggested site called Paperrater.com is very easy to use to spell check and plagiarism check. Our
facilitator suggested Paperrater.com and I really like how easy it is to use! I plan on using it

Genome Editing Essay
Introduction
Genome editing is a huge leap forward in science and medicine. Because of recent advances in technology, the study of genes and induced 'point'
mutations have led to the discovery and advancement of methods previously used in order to mutate genes. The development of Clusters of Regularly
Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPRs) and CRISPR associated system 9 protein (Cas9) technology is a hugely significant leap forward as
this is a tool that could potentially be used for the research into and hopefully the treatment of a range of medical conditions that are genetically
related. Cystic fibrosis (Schwank, G. et al, 2013), haemophilia and sickle cell disease are an example of some of the conditions that have the...show

Once the complex was bound to the DNA, a cut would be made to eliminate and destroy the invaders. 83% of archaeal genomes and 45% of bacterial
genomes (Shabbir, M. et al, 2016) were shown to be able to successfully utilize the CRISPR Cas9 system. These are very promising statistics, so it is
no wonder that there has been such an advancement in the past few years to bring this technology to eukaryotic cells, mammalian cells and eventually
human cells.
With the rate and volume that new experiments and experimental procedures are being tried and tested, it can be expected that a Nobel Prize will soon
be won for the discovery and advancement of this potential life–saving 'tool'. The category of Nobel Prize and who it potentially should be awarded to
are discussed later in this essay.
The Role of CRISPR/Cas9 as a Genome Editing Tool
There are three types of CRISPR systems. The Type II CRISPR system (where the interface is mediated by a single large protein in conjunction with
crRNA) is the simplest of the three and it is this one that has been the basis for genome editing.
The Cas9 protein is an enzyme that effectively acts as a pair of molecular 'scissors', cutting

Planning a Party Essay
Planning a Party
The process of planning a party takes a lot of time and focus to get every detail covered. First of all, you must decide where you will have the party,
maybe a club house or your own home. When you have that decided then there are several other steps you must take in order for your party to be
successful.
You have decided on a location, and now it is time to make a list of the people who will be attending. Make a list of everyone you want to attend and
do not forget their family members who may come with them. You may want to allow everyone to bring a friend if they are single, or you suspect they
will come alone. Fill out your invitations and get them in the mail at least two weeks before your event. Now...show more content...
Be aware that sometimes the advice you get may not be what you want to hear, so you might want to warn the person up front that you are just
getting advice, and that you may or may not use it. I have found when planning a party, people I seek advice from often get the idea they are taking
over which can lead to big problems. It is always better to be very clear up front that you are only asking for advice, and not for them to plan the
party for you. Making a list for food, decorations, and games is going to be the most frustrating part of the party planning because this will make
or break your party. Keep in mind that you may not want to have so much food that you have a lot of waste. If you are planning to fill everyone up
then it is a good idea to use foods that are filling, like starches. You may want to have a sit down dinner or just hors d'oeuvre; whatever you decide
try to plan so you do not have a lot of waste. R.S.V.P is very important for this area of the party, so try to emphasize this in your invitations.
After people have eaten they are ready for some fun. You must keep your party flowing so no one will get board. Games can be uncomfortable for
some people, so make sure the games are not embarrassing. Board games are good, and charades are always a favorite for the more outgoing type.
Some people will not play games; just sitting and talking is a very normal part of a party. Do not get worried that they

Over the past few months, I have learned several different writing techniques. While all of the different types of papers were difficult to write, I
believe that my writing skills have improved. In fact, I did not understand all of the assignments, but I did try to do my best on all of them. While I
should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs, I feel that I learned a great deal. It is true that I have not had very much
writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. Sometimes, I do admit, it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it
when I am a proficient writer.
For example, the research paper was one of the most difficult assignments that I have ever written. I did...show more content...
I did not introduce the person effectively. For example, when quoting someone, one should write something such: as Balko points out that, he is upset
with insurance companies (Balko). This example is in my own words and is an example of a paraphrase. I quoted people and then would not write
what I thought about the quote afterwards. When doing this in an essay, the teacher has no way of knowing what the student is trying to convey. A
proper quote should start with an introduction. After the introduction, you have to say what the person has said, followed by what you think about
what they said. After doing this, a student should cite the author by using parentheses. I did not know that a writer was supposed to do this. My first
paper was very inadequate.
Additionally, I also cited sources and then forgot where I got the information. However, the use of citing information and research was also one of my
debilitating points. Nevertheless, I believe after the reminders, corrections, and proofreading that needed pointing out to me, helped me improve in this
area.
Research in the library labs were very helpful and informative in spotting web sites that were biased and did not have creditable information. Many
people make web sites that are not credible and it is always good to select scholarly sources when writing research papers for school. When one
researches a subject, you should always keep good records. I am a disorganized person, and lose

My Peer Tutoring Class
After experiencing being a peer tutor my senior year, I think you should become one too. My peer tutoring class was Algebra 2. A class I did fairly
well in. I've learned lot of new things during this experience. I've learned that everybody learns differently, multiple people struggle with the same
thing whether it be procrastination, time management, or even listening. I've also learned how to apply these things to my studies as well. I learned
from their mistakes. I struggled with procrastination as well as listening in my own studies. So while I was helping them, I was also helping myself. I
also learned how to help students who learned in two completely different ways. One was a visual learner while the other was one

My Writing Experience
Reading and writing has always created a sense of understanding for me in my art. Reading in the literal sense is a way that we understand text or
symbols in our minds which in turn create meaning. Writing also in a literal sense is our way of communicating our knowledge and emotions to others
through symbols in text. The human experience for all people includes communication and through reading and writing this experience is created.
From the beginning of this course, my only prior experience with reading and writing were high school level course over literature and reading. I had
an average level of rhetoric, reading, writing and language overall however, understanding the significance of these subjects was never put forth in such
a way until I took this course. I discovered through this course that reading is a combination of not only our "visual information" but also our
"nonvisual information". My comprehension of reading has evolved from reading...show more content...
I feel that organization is both a strength and a weakness in my writing. Free writing is something that helped me gain a better sense of my ideas and
through this I was able to create more structured ideas. However, the formation of a structurally sound essay that contains writing that flows was
extremely difficult for myself. Fluidity was a challenge throughout my time in this course, but is was also something that created a better voice in my
writing. The understanding of reading and writing in this course was extremely meaningful for me and made a huge impact on my writing overall.
Writing motivates me and inspires me in my own work to create stories and share with others what I feel is memorable and should be shared. Although
it may never be something perfect, writing is something I wish to continue improving on and creating in order to share with

Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences,

future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no

I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form
as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My
goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my
whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs,
essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will
have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and
sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and
collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so
that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am talking about by my writing skills when doing shift
changes. I will have to be very precise so that other nurses will not

Essay about Teachers and Students
Teachers and Students
The education habits of students are rooted in them from the earliest days of their educational careers. The different influences on students, whether it
be inside educational institutions, or outside is huge. The teacher of a classroom is the first and most pertinent influence in a student's educational career.
Teachers provide students with the basic skills they would need to survive not only in the academic world, but also the world beyond. The relationship
between teachers and their students is the key element in creating an educational atmosphere that is both pleasant and effective.
The experience of a student at school, especially at a younger age, in most cases sets the main base of the skills of that...show more content...
Unconsciously or not, they consistently reinforce and reward more 'feminine' behavior. Although it may be true that boys are more active than girls,
but to say that they are treated differently is to be overly generalizing the situation. A teacher is supposed to be able to handle different types of
children in the classroom, and cater to their activeness or passiveness in a class. For example, a teacher would try to involve a quiet and shy student
as often as possible. The same goes for an active child; the teacher should be able to find activities for that child which would not only educate them,
but also keep them busy.
Thomas provides various arguments as to how boys and girls are different; therefore they are treated differently in a classroom. It cannot be argued
that boys and girls are different, especially at such a young age, but to say that teachers specifically do treat boys in a rougher manner would be going
too far. Thomas introduces the idea that society instills ideas of prejudice towards women in young boys, so that when they do go into a classroom
governed by a female teacher, they are predisposed to be defiant and unruly. In my opinion, it is unfair to judge teachers based on the performance of
their students on various tests. Thomas's article introduces the idea that as the number of female teachers is increasing, the performance of boys in
school is declining. One much question whether it is in fact the teachers who cause this

Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or
process I have struggled with writing especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits in World
Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfect essay, story, letter, and assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical
situations. I also think my writing will improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different point of
view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my
writing and how they can help me improve.
Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on more often. They always told me they are the
essentials of everything thing. Even though I disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the
way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point. Growing up I always loved writing short stories
especially scary stories. I always was creative with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps writing an
outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the
thesis because it summarizes the whole essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that helped me
cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was one of the easiest things about writing the essay.
Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a teacher is way more complex, I must make sure
that everything is on point or it reaches the state of protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the
essay. Writing to a friend or a family member is much easier I usually don't focus on grammatic errors or writing a perfect thesis. Today some of us don't

College Essay On Film Editing
Editing is one of the most important parts of filmmaking. Film Editing is one of my favorite things to do. But let's get to the point. I have recently

Analysis Of No Edit By Randy Cohen
In his essay "No Edit", Randy Cohen, former writer of the New York Times' "Ethicist" column, addresses the issue of whether teachers should edit
college–application essays for their students. Mr. Cohen, who is clearly in opposition, also offers a counterpoint to his opinion by including several
statements from Jeffrey Brenzel, dean of undergraduate admissions at Yale. Mr. Brenzels' stance is firmly in the affirmative, "I would think it foolish
of a student not to have an essay proofed for spelling, grammar and syntax by someone competent to do so. We are not looking to take the measure of
writing ability, genius or cleverness. We simply want to know something about personal outlook and perspective–how a student sees things or what a

In the business world, these traits are often referred to as "soft assets", intangibles that add value above what can be easily quantified. Is the applicant
shy, outgoing, a natural leader, is he or she responsible, creative, will the student be an asset to the campus community and even to thecollege itself;
knowing something about a student's character can help the admissions board make a more informed decision. This brings me to my most grievous
condemnation of editing and of Mr. Brenzels' assertion "...writing ability, genius and cleverness." are not being critiqued.
The power of the written word, it is something I believe in; and having read an essay, I can not believe that anyone, even a college admission
officer, could entirely separate their personal opinion of the essay from the academic worthiness of the student. Unlike oral traditions, the written
word has stability, portability and permanence, the same piece of work may be read and reread exactly as it was first written. Writing allows us to
make our thoughts visible to others; it gives us the ability to express and explain complex events, emotions, and situations. Words can wound, they can
inspire, they can inflame a populace to revolution or assuage them to lasting peace; they give voice to those who would be silenced, preserve our
fondest memories and offer the only true freedom some

Argumentative Essay On Gene Editing
Parents want nothing but the best for their children. Would some parents go through a screening of their embryo to detect diseases, deformations, and
even go as far as picking the traits they would want their child to have? Advances in recent genetics propose that we are potentially close to parents
being able to screen their embryos and make an alteration to genomes. The use of CRISPR/Cas9, gene editing technologies, are stirring up ethical
debates. There are many arguments in favor and against this possible development in science and human life. Those against gene editing say, it is
unnatural and dangerous and may cause unintentional edits to genomes of unborn fetuses without their consent. Those in favor say that it may lead to
a decrease in the occurrence of many serious diseases, decreasing human suffering.
One of the biggest ethical arguments against gene editing is that it is unnatural, unsafe and "amounts to playing god" ("Pro and Con: Should Gene
Editing," 2016). I feel that for as long as humans have been living on this earth, we have been reproducing without any knowledge of what
deformations, diseases, other life–threatening illnesses or even the eye and hair color that one could be born with. Until recently there has been no
way that embryos could be screened for parents to know what complications they might encounter after the birth of their child. Today, the use of a
technology called pre–implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) used in in vitro fertilization

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Gene Editing?
The ability to edit human embryos is relatively new to science. For this reason, the pros and cons of gene editing are being debated, and it's not yet
clear whether or not the potential good of modifying DNA outweighs the potential hazards. Assuming thorough testing, safe application, and
observations taken for generations, the potential good that could come from being able to edit human embryos would outweigh the potential hazards.
CRISPR/Cas9, a system of molecules used to change the DNA in adult human cells and animal embryos, is used to eradicate devastating genetic
diseases in humans before birth. CRISPR identifies the target DNA, which shows Cas9 the correct strands to slice ("CRISPR Treats Genetic

As long as all aspects and possible outcomes are weighed, experiments are well thought out and calculated, and scientists are educated in the
possibilities of gene editing technology, then what cons outweigh potential pros from a scientific standpoint? But then, how can ethics be determined
when everyone in the world has diverse values? These experiments depend on the scientists performing them and how they weigh the pros and cons
of gene editing. In summary, there is no right answer to how far scientists can go with editing embryos; they are only limited by their values and the
general beliefs and restrictions in their countries. Gene editing will continue to be debated, and if a point of agreement is reached, then it will be clear
whether or not the pros really outweigh– the cons of modifying DNA in human

With his eyes fixated on the water, the camera shifts to each person in the water as if he is looking at each person. First, the director uses a long

the water with his raft and paddling further into the water. The camera then shifts back to the dog and his owner. Once again, it shifts to an old

facing Brody at eye level. With this next shot, the director used an incredibly complex editing technique called wipe. With an image of Brody at
eyelevel, the camera captures an individual walking by. More individuals walk by and with the passing of each person, Brody's face is brought
dramatically closer. With this technique used three times I was able to get a close up shot of Brody and visualize the concentration on his face. The

A few times a semester I would volunteer at the Prison Book Program, where I would read letters from incarcerated individuals from all over the
country and find 2–3 books that match their interests and reading criteria. Opening each letter and hearing people's stories reminded me of the harsh
realities of our world today, and the difficulty many people face in preserving their human dignity and self–worth.
Whether guilty of crimes or innocent, our incarceration system is an issue that many activists rally around in terms of its success and promise in
correcting and rehabilitating criminal behavior. So, to read letters and hear the voices of those who are living on the marginalized edges of our
society, but who rarely have a voice in the issue that's being nationally rallied around, is an uncommon circumstance that should be noted and have
more attention and action drawn to. Their desire to educate themselves within the confines of a prison wall is real and heard by those of us who take
time to spend their weekday evenings in the bottom of a church basement, sorting through donated books, and reading literary wish–lists of those who
are incarcerated.
Another meaningful experience that sticks out to me is when I regularly volunteered at a children's homeless shelter in Roxbury, Mass. for two years,
and was reminded of the fact that the statistics we hear every day about homelessness are real people – not just numbers. Every child I played alongside,

to keep track of days for later memories and I add to it every day. I have a few experiences worth sharing as well. One of my first experiences
seriously writing is when, I was in Highschool, and had to write a speech. I spent four days writing this speech. Although it wasn't what you would
call outstandingly fun. The speech was for my graduation on the last day of school BSEP. BSEP was a project all seniors had to complete and pass to
graduate. I have been out of school for two years since that experience....show more content...
I began writing songs about a year ago. The drive really came out of nowhere I wasn't in a very good place emotionally. Since I was feeling kind of
down I began to write songs mostly R&B and as well as Hip Hop. Writing these however doesn't require much punctuation. I write a lot of songs,
and I have compiled about 30 total in the past year. I get a lot of good feedback from the people who have heard them but I am very skittish about
singing in front of people. I mostly do it for self satisfaction in my own head it helps me relax. I'm also building a skill that might one day turn out to
become something

MSAA 609: Cost Management
Executive Summary
An effective business strategy and budgeting is very essential in a manufacturing industry. A company without a proper business strategy and master
budgeting plan would usually faces tremendous challenges and losses during its business operations. The importance of company's business strategies
and budgeting plans, as well as the challenges and losses in the absence of these items has clearly presented in this case study. ("Wiley," 2013)

The company's creams inventory remains constant because it does not follow a trend in innovation and changes so often as the other products. The
surplus in inventory is a big disadvantage since; last year's products may not be in style this year in addition to the cost of storage. For all these
reasons their cash flow is less in comparison with previous years causing that Luxor Cosmetics keeps increasing their bank loans, creating more debt,
making it harder to pay out as 2011. In this particular situation the company could have either decrease its budgeted sales (productions) or increase its
actual sales by improving more effective marketing strategy and research and development of its products in the markets. This way their inventory
would decrease and their cash flow would increase. (Hopkins, 2009)
Further, through effective marketing strategy Luxor

How My Writing Has Improved
After this semester of English 102, at Bristol Community College I feel that I have gained the skill to articulate what I want to convey to the
reader in many ways. I don't just look at grammatical error, but instead I look for ways to make my sentences more effective and concise.
Nevertheless, I hope that this strategy will continue to help me improve my writing even further on in the future. My strong points as a reader
have also definitely improved after reading the poems and stories we experienced this semester. Writing has been an important form of expression
for me. I find myself to be very soft spoken and speaking verbally is usually difficult for me because I can't always seem to find the right words to
say. I feel that I am more expressive and have more control over what I want to say. While this semester progressed toward its end, I have learned
new writing skills and gradually learned how to engage with audiences. This skill was very useful in meeting my course goals in English 102. I
believe that I have grown at organization and careful stream my thoughts as well. Before I would just begin writing my papers without any plans or
organization, along with no definite idea of where I would be going with the assignments, but throughout this course I've learned that you should base
your paper around your thesis statement. Another skill I took from this class was to value my classmate's responses, from their reactions made me
much more aware that my main ideas

Cornell Method And Organized Schedule

  • 1. Cornell Method And Organized Schedule The two strategies I will be focusing on in future in college is the Cornell method and an organized schedule for my assignments. These strategies have helped me to be successful in my first semester of college so I would like to use it for my future in college. The reason the Cornell method and an organized schedule are important to me because they save me time and work. The Cornell method is really good for note–taking. People are not gonna be able to attain every bit of information the professor presents to us. The Cornell method helps you get the important information that the professor presents to us in a small bit of written information. You can be able to write it down and not miss anything while you are in class. An organized schedule Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. How My Writing Has Changed Essay My writing styles have changed drastically over the past four years of high school. This memo will explain how my writing has changed and how my knowledge of writing has improved. Aspects of My Writing during High School During my English courses throughout high school, I learned many things from writing simple journals, research papers, and a single term paper. During high school, I was laid back and procrastinated for much of my work. During the latter part of high school when I wrote my term paper my senior year, I found out that working a little every night writing a few paragraphs helped me out greatly. I was not just throwing something together just to get the grade and the paper finished. I spent time on the paper and...show more content... I do this so the information is true, and also in order from which events have occurred. When I wrote my term paper my senior year I was well organized. I was required to write about an event in history. I chose India Uprising of 1877 as the topic of my paper. This topic was not interesting at all, but I chose to write about it. When I finished writing my thesis and outline, I wrote note cards about the different topics, which allowed me to gather all my information and organize it in which different events occurred. When I was finished with the paper, it sounded and read consistently and it all flowed together. How These Experiences Prepared Me for College Writing I have written many different types of papers for all of my classes throughout high school. For my science classes, I have written several labs in the form of essays. Writing the essays was different for me because I did not really know that science had much to do with writing. It took me a while to gather all the information I needed to finish my lab assignments. Writing lab reports will definitely help me in my science courses in the next four years. The journals I have written came from my four years of high school English. Everyday I came to class there would be a topic on the board. I took five minutes each day to write about the given topic. It was brainstorming and giving our input on whatever the topic was. I think

By creating my eportfolio I have learned my weaknesses and strengths within my written, oral, visual, and electronic communication modes. When you begin exploring my portfolio, I will be sharing with you on how I have grown within the WOVE areas this semester. Here is a brief overview of what you can find on my eportfolio. The menu section that is located at the top of the website can be easily used to navigate my introductory, about me, WOVE, reflection, and closing pages. These pages can also be easily accessed on the contents which is located at the top right side of each page. The WOVE page has a drop–down box menu that contains my written communication, and OVE communication modes. Also, the reflection page has a drop–down box menu that contains my reflection on my written revision, reflection on OVE artifact, and Special reflection about E. The closing page will contain my final closing reflection and my about me page, will personally tell you more about myself. My composing techniques have slightly changed since I began this course, I learned the important aspects of using a rough draft. At the beginning of this semester I would spend more time writing down my thoughts on a paper then organizing my thoughts within the rough draft. I learned that it is ineffective for me to just write down my ideas on a paper with no purpose because I tend to jumble my words. By Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Video Editing Experience A long time I decided to live the zombie life as a video editor and during that time I had to experience a lot of workflow to get good at it. In the beginning of learning it was difficult and there were so many different programs to edit with, but during the time I did not know about which were professional or not. For example, when I first started I used a program called Window Movie Maker, and without doubt it was not very useful since there were only limited tools that the program holds; Since I did not know any better at the time I easily continued to work with the program for a couple months, which was the most difficult start of my experience. For example, there were obstacles such as slow render, 15 effects or less, and very rigid transitions from clips to clips. When it came to actual editing, I was amateurish as well, but that's normal for anyone that's new to a hobby that they want to learn by experience; The way I synched the lyrics or beats to my clips were off at first, as well as the quality, which was poor. In fact, I did not even know how to discover a source to download the type of footage I worked with at the time. After 3 or 4 months of editing, I finally made my first friend that does the same hobby as me, and he then helped me locate high quality clips. My friend was from Germany and of course I was from the United States, so we both helped each other grow as editors as time passed, even as it was difficult we had fun Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Analytical thinkers find importance in the smallest of things. It also pointed out, comparing new things to the old, I will easily apply this to this week and well as future weeks. When I'm able to compare the new with the old, it helps me contain information better. Effective communication will be important for me, this week and going forward. I will start to apply effective communication by expressing my ideas as well as listening to the ideas of my classmates. I've learned that listening is an important key in communicating. Another tip that the Read pointed out was having a willingness and opportunity to learn. I am open to any suggestions, criticism, and new ideas that are presented to me. • 7. Online Learning Log Analysis I especially admire how it is suggested that in our virtual campus we do not need to get dressed, hire a babysitter, drive to class, find a parking space, go to class to earn a degree (Bethel, 2014, p.4). However, we do have to put in time to read our material that is provided to us (READ section), watch a video in our ATTEND section, complete our assignments and communicate with our fellow classmates. Just because we are not being present in a classroom we still have to do the work to earn our grades. The best tip from our Read section, I think, is to pay attention to word count requirements and also to treat the Discuss forum with seriousness because it is apart of our academic learning. I always copy and paste assignment instructions into Google Doc to begin my thinking, research, writing and proofreading. Making time to read and do the assignments is another great tip I am going to use. Planning out a specific time and place for me to adhere to my online learning schedule is how I will apply this and make myself be aware of my time being used with the thought of working towards my goals. Rick, What do you mean? You said, 'while you did not emphasize its importance'....what did you mean? Can you please explain...show more content... Are you going to personally try to adhere to all of the tips that our Read section suggests? I think that my main concern is paying attention to citing references used correctly, time management and deadlines, and paying very close attention to word counts. Yes, these things are common sense, to a certain degree. I feel that academic writing is something nobody is blessed with because it is something we learn. I try to refer to the Purdue /OWL website to help me sometimes. A newly suggested site called Paperrater.com is very easy to use to spell check and plagiarism check. Our facilitator suggested Paperrater.com and I really like how easy it is to use! I plan on using it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Genome Editing Essay Introduction Genome editing is a huge leap forward in science and medicine. Because of recent advances in technology, the study of genes and induced 'point' mutations have led to the discovery and advancement of methods previously used in order to mutate genes. The development of Clusters of Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPRs) and CRISPR associated system 9 protein (Cas9) technology is a hugely significant leap forward as this is a tool that could potentially be used for the research into and hopefully the treatment of a range of medical conditions that are genetically related. Cystic fibrosis (Schwank, G. et al, 2013), haemophilia and sickle cell disease are an example of some of the conditions that have the...show more content... Once the complex was bound to the DNA, a cut would be made to eliminate and destroy the invaders. 83% of archaeal genomes and 45% of bacterial genomes (Shabbir, M. et al, 2016) were shown to be able to successfully utilize the CRISPR Cas9 system. These are very promising statistics, so it is no wonder that there has been such an advancement in the past few years to bring this technology to eukaryotic cells, mammalian cells and eventually human cells. With the rate and volume that new experiments and experimental procedures are being tried and tested, it can be expected that a Nobel Prize will soon be won for the discovery and advancement of this potential life–saving 'tool'. The category of Nobel Prize and who it potentially should be awarded to are discussed later in this essay. The Role of CRISPR/Cas9 as a Genome Editing Tool There are three types of CRISPR systems. The Type II CRISPR system (where the interface is mediated by a single large protein in conjunction with crRNA) is the simplest of the three and it is this one that has been the basis for genome editing. The Cas9 protein is an enzyme that effectively acts as a pair of molecular 'scissors', cutting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Planning a Party Essay Planning a Party The process of planning a party takes a lot of time and focus to get every detail covered. First of all, you must decide where you will have the party, maybe a club house or your own home. When you have that decided then there are several other steps you must take in order for your party to be successful. You have decided on a location, and now it is time to make a list of the people who will be attending. Make a list of everyone you want to attend and do not forget their family members who may come with them. You may want to allow everyone to bring a friend if they are single, or you suspect they will come alone. Fill out your invitations and get them in the mail at least two weeks before your event. Now...show more content... Be aware that sometimes the advice you get may not be what you want to hear, so you might want to warn the person up front that you are just getting advice, and that you may or may not use it. I have found when planning a party, people I seek advice from often get the idea they are taking over which can lead to big problems. It is always better to be very clear up front that you are only asking for advice, and not for them to plan the party for you. Making a list for food, decorations, and games is going to be the most frustrating part of the party planning because this will make or break your party. Keep in mind that you may not want to have so much food that you have a lot of waste. If you are planning to fill everyone up then it is a good idea to use foods that are filling, like starches. You may want to have a sit down dinner or just hors d'oeuvre; whatever you decide try to plan so you do not have a lot of waste. R.S.V.P is very important for this area of the party, so try to emphasize this in your invitations. After people have eaten they are ready for some fun. You must keep your party flowing so no one will get board. Games can be uncomfortable for some people, so make sure the games are not embarrassing. Board games are good, and charades are always a favorite for the more outgoing type. Some people will not play games; just sitting and talking is a very normal part of a party. Do not get worried that they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Over the past few months, I have learned several different writing techniques. While all of the different types of papers were difficult to write, I believe that my writing skills have improved. In fact, I did not understand all of the assignments, but I did try to do my best on all of them. While I should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs, I feel that I learned a great deal. It is true that I have not had very much writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. Sometimes, I do admit, it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I am a proficient writer. For example, the research paper was one of the most difficult assignments that I have ever written. I did...show more content... I did not introduce the person effectively. For example, when quoting someone, one should write something such: as Balko points out that, he is upset with insurance companies (Balko). This example is in my own words and is an example of a paraphrase. I quoted people and then would not write what I thought about the quote afterwards. When doing this in an essay, the teacher has no way of knowing what the student is trying to convey. A proper quote should start with an introduction. After the introduction, you have to say what the person has said, followed by what you think about what they said. After doing this, a student should cite the author by using parentheses. I did not know that a writer was supposed to do this. My first paper was very inadequate. Additionally, I also cited sources and then forgot where I got the information. However, the use of citing information and research was also one of my debilitating points. Nevertheless, I believe after the reminders, corrections, and proofreading that needed pointing out to me, helped me improve in this area. I've learned lot of new things during this experience. I've learned that everybody learns differently, multiple people struggle with the same thing whether it be procrastination, time management, or even listening. I've also learned how to apply these things to my studies as well. I learned from their mistakes. I struggled with procrastination as well as listening in my own studies. So while I was helping them, I was also helping myself. I also learned how to help students who learned in two completely different ways. • 12. My Writing Experience Reading and writing has always created a sense of understanding for me in my art. Reading in the literal sense is a way that we understand text or symbols in our minds which in turn create meaning. Writing also in a literal sense is our way of communicating our knowledge and emotions to others through symbols in text. The human experience for all people includes communication and through reading and writing this experience is created. From the beginning of this course, my only prior experience with reading and writing were high school level course over literature and reading. I had an average level of rhetoric, reading, writing and language overall however, understanding the significance of these subjects was never put forth in such a way until I took this course. Fluidity was a challenge throughout my time in this course, but is was also something that created a better voice in my writing. The understanding of reading and writing in this course was extremely meaningful for me and made a huge impact on my writing overall. • 13. Essay on Writing Experience My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. My goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays, and maybe even books. • 14. Essay about Teachers and Students Teachers and Students The education habits of students are rooted in them from the earliest days of their educational careers. The different influences on students, whether it be inside educational institutions, or outside is huge. The teacher of a classroom is the first and most pertinent influence in a student's educational career. Teachers provide students with the basic skills they would need to survive not only in the academic world, but also the world beyond. The relationship between teachers and their students is the key element in creating an educational atmosphere that is both pleasant and effective. The experience of a student at school, especially at a younger age, in most cases sets the main base of the skills of that...show more content... Unconsciously or not, they consistently reinforce and reward more 'feminine' behavior. Although it may be true that boys are more active than girls, but to say that they are treated differently is to be overly generalizing the situation. A teacher is supposed to be able to handle different types of children in the classroom, and cater to their activeness or passiveness in a class. For example, a teacher would try to involve a quiet and shy student as often as possible. The same goes for an active child; the teacher should be able to find activities for that child which would not only educate them, but also keep them busy. Thomas provides various arguments as to how boys and girls are different; therefore they are treated differently in a classroom. It cannot be argued that boys and girls are different, especially at such a young age, but to say that teachers specifically do treat boys in a rougher manner would be going too far. Thomas introduces the idea that society instills ideas of prejudice towards women in young boys, so that when they do go into a classroom governed by a female teacher, they are predisposed to be defiant and unruly. In my opinion, it is unfair to judge teachers based on the performance of their students on various tests. Thomas's article introduces the idea that as the number of female teachers is increasing, the performance of boys in school is declining. One much question whether it is in fact the teachers who cause this Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Writing is way that we can express ourselves, it is a way to interface ideas and thoughts and to prove a point. Throughout my writing experience or process I have struggled with writing especially using details or really expressing myself my work. In this course Facts & Fiction: Portraits in World Art I expect to gain more knowledge on how to write a perfect essay, story, letter, and assignment. I expect to learn new genres and rhetorical situations. I also think my writing will improve academically and I will develop my skills in writing. Also taking my writing to a different point of view, level, and writing something different rather than the usual. I look forward to getting feedback from my peers and learning their thoughts on my writing and how they can help me improve. Reading and writing were two things my parents use to always push me to improve and work on more often. They always told me they are the essentials of everything thing. Even though I disliked both at a young age as I grew older I preferred writing because I can always change the way I write and write from my point of view, really be creative with it and prove my point. Growing up I always loved writing short stories especially scary stories. I always was creative with them and even made them realistic. To write an essay I usually have a couple of steps writing an outline, and the thesis a draft and finally a final draft. The most difficult part about this is writing the thesis because the whole essay revolves the thesis because it summarizes the whole essay. At the end of some essays, I had to use citations to do that there were many websites that helped me cite sources such as easybib which was a really simple process. So, citing sources was one of the easiest things about writing the essay. Writing to a teacher is way more complex then writing to a fried or a family member. Writing to a teacher is way more complex, I must make sure that everything is on point or it reaches the state of protection. Which is having the right format, a great thesis and really conveying the point of the essay. Writing to a friend or a family member is much easier I usually don't focus on grammatic errors or writing a perfect thesis. Today some of us don't Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Analysis Of No Edit By Randy Cohen In his essay "No Edit", Randy Cohen, former writer of the New York Times' "Ethicist" column, addresses the issue of whether teachers should edit college–application essays for their students. Mr. Cohen, who is clearly in opposition, also offers a counterpoint to his opinion by including several statements from Jeffrey Brenzel, dean of undergraduate admissions at Yale. Mr. Brenzels' stance is firmly in the affirmative, "I would think it foolish of a student not to have an essay proofed for spelling, grammar and syntax by someone competent to do so. This brings me to my most grievous condemnation of editing and of Mr. Brenzels' assertion "...writing ability, genius and cleverness." are not being critiqued. The power of the written word, it is something I believe in; and having read an essay, I can not believe that anyone, even a college admission officer, could entirely separate their personal opinion of the essay from the academic worthiness of the student. • 18. Argumentative Essay On Gene Editing Parents want nothing but the best for their children. Would some parents go through a screening of their embryo to detect diseases, deformations, and even go as far as picking the traits they would want their child to have? Advances in recent genetics propose that we are potentially close to parents being able to screen their embryos and make an alteration to genomes. The use of CRISPR/Cas9, gene editing technologies, are stirring up ethical debates. There are many arguments in favor and against this possible development in science and human life. Those against gene editing say, it is unnatural and dangerous and may cause unintentional edits to genomes of unborn fetuses without their consent. Those in favor say that it may lead to a decrease in the occurrence of many serious diseases, decreasing human suffering. One of the biggest ethical arguments against gene editing is that it is unnatural, unsafe and "amounts to playing god" ("Pro and Con: Should Gene Editing," 2016). I feel that for as long as humans have been living on this earth, we have been reproducing without any knowledge of what deformations, diseases, other life–threatening illnesses or even the eye and hair color that one could be born with. Until recently there has been no way that embryos could be screened for parents to know what complications they might encounter after the birth of their child. Today, the use of a technology called pre–implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) used in in vitro fertilization Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. What Are The Pros And Cons Of Gene Editing? The ability to edit human embryos is relatively new to science. For this reason, the pros and cons of gene editing are being debated, and it's not yet clear whether or not the potential good of modifying DNA outweighs the potential hazards. Assuming thorough testing, safe application, and observations taken for generations, the potential good that could come from being able to edit human embryos would outweigh the potential hazards. CRISPR/Cas9, a system of molecules used to change the DNA in adult human cells and animal embryos, is used to eradicate devastating genetic diseases in humans before birth. CRISPR identifies the target DNA, which shows Cas9 the correct strands to slice ("CRISPR Treats Genetic Disorder", 2016). This process has...show more content... In summary, there is no right answer to how far scientists can go with editing embryos; they are only limited by their values and the general beliefs and restrictions in their countries. Once again, it shifts to an old women floating, and then snaps again back to the little boy. This sequence continues a few more times until the camera position changes and is now facing Brody at eye level. With this next shot, the director used an incredibly complex editing technique called wipe. With an image of Brody at eyelevel, the camera captures an individual walking by. More individuals walk by and with the passing of each person, Brody's face is brought dramatically closer. With this technique used three times I was able to get a close up shot of Brody and visualize the concentration on his face. The wiping continues, except this time the camera shifts from Brody to the women floating. A few times a semester I would volunteer at the Prison Book Program, where I would read letters from incarcerated individuals from all over the country and find 2–3 books that match their interests and reading criteria. Opening each letter and hearing people's stories reminded me of the harsh realities of our world today, and the difficulty many people face in preserving their human dignity and self–worth. Whether guilty of crimes or innocent, our incarceration system is an issue that many activists rally around in terms of its success and promise in correcting and rehabilitating criminal behavior. So, to read letters and hear the voices of those who are living on the marginalized edges of our society, but who rarely have a voice in the issue that's being nationally rallied around, is an uncommon circumstance that should be noted and have more attention and action drawn to. Their desire to educate themselves within the confines of a prison wall is real and heard by those of us who take time to spend their weekday evenings in the bottom of a church basement, sorting through donated books, and reading literary wish–lists of those who are incarcerated. The company's creams inventory remains constant because it does not follow a trend in innovation and changes so often as the other products. The surplus in inventory is a big disadvantage since; last year's products may not be in style this year in addition to the cost of storage. For all these reasons their cash flow is less in comparison with previous years causing that Luxor Cosmetics keeps increasing their bank loans, creating more debt, making it harder to pay out as 2011. How My Writing Has Improved After this semester of English 102, at Bristol Community College I feel that I have gained the skill to articulate what I want to convey to the reader in many ways. I don't just look at grammatical error, but instead I look for ways to make my sentences more effective and concise. Nevertheless, I hope that this strategy will continue to help me improve my writing even further on in the future. My strong points as a reader have also definitely improved after reading the poems and stories we experienced this semester. Writing has been an important form of expression for me. I find myself to be very soft spoken and speaking verbally is usually difficult for me because I can't always seem to find the right words to say. I feel that I am more expressive and have more control over what I want to say. While this semester progressed toward its end, I have learned new writing skills and gradually learned how to engage with audiences. This skill was very useful in meeting my course goals in English 102. I believe that I have grown at organization and careful stream my thoughts as well. Before I would just begin writing my papers without any plans or organization, along with no definite idea of where I would be going with the assignments, but throughout this course I've learned that you should base your paper around your thesis statement.
