card (or paddle).
Register at the front
desk at the before
the auction sale
begins.
GET A BIDDING CARD:

3. The sale catalogue
includes lots of useful
info, including
estimated values and
condition details. Take
the time to browse the
catalogue and take
note.
CATALOGUE:

4. Previews provide you
with the opportunity to
examine the items in the
sale. Don’t get up mid-
sale to take a close look
at your item, that can be
frowned upon!
PREVIEW THE LOTS:

5. Maintaining eye contact
with the auctioneer
during your bidding will
help the process run
smoother, and ensure
that you don’t get
missed!
EYE CONTACT:

6. Make your intentions
clear at the beginning of
your bidding process.
You’ll then just need to
nod to keep your interest
going through the sale.
ATTENTION:

7. If you don’t want to
continue in the
bidding, make sure
you’re clear by
shaking your head to
indicate leaving!
BOWING OUT:

8. Don’t be shy when joining
late, as you will need to
attract the auctioneer’s
attention (in a polite
manner). This can be a
good way of catching
another bidder off-guard
when they think they’ve
secured the item!
JOINING LATE:

9. If you have managed to
win the bidding battle,
show your card to the
auctioneer in charge.
Make sure that your
number is visible and
refrain from shouting
your number out.
