2. CISD BACKGROUND
a. “The Canyon Independent School District serves two communities, Canyon
and Amarillo, in Randall County of the Texas Panhandle. The district covers a large
area, which encompasses 732 square miles. The north end of the district has 7
campuses in south Amarillo that offer immediate access to city amenities, while
those in the city of Canyon offer a small-town atmosphere with easy access to the
city. In the city of Canyon there are 5 campuses, and 3 campuses are located in
between the two cities” (SOURCE).
b. As of October of 2014, CISD had a total of 9,375 students overall campuses.
3. MISSION
a. “The mission of Canyon Independent School District, in
partnership with the home and community, is to expect and provide
the highest standards of performance through diverse and nurturing
educational experiences” (SOURCE).
