To Whom it May Concern
Magdy Hussein worked in the capacity of Business Advisor for the Foundation for International
Training at the Beni Suef Regional Enterprise Development Centre (REDEC) during the period
of July 1996 until October 1998. This work was carried out under thejoint Egypt -Canada
bilateral Small and Micro Enterprise Development in Upper Egypt Project and supports the
establishment of new enterprises with new entrepreneurs.
The work of Mr Hussein involved the supervision of a team of seven field business advisors as
well as the design and implementation of a variety of business support programs. Mr Hussein's
experience in banking and financial analysis was particularly valuable in preparing these business
support programs.
Mr Hussein also took part in the design and delivery of a variety of training programs that
brought together not only the staff from Beni Suef but also the staff of other FIT affiliated
institutions in Egypt. Again Mr Hussein's contributed to the formalization of many of the
financial systems that were used by all of the offices.
More recently Mr Hussein has assisted in the preparation of a concept that will help provide the
Beni Suef REDEC with a permanent source of income. This concept has been reviewed by a
variety of external consultants and considered to be both an innovative and viable approach
towards sustaining the costs of providing business support services over the long term.
