I am Madhulikha Umapathy, a graphic designer from Bangalore with 10 years of experience working with two of the best design houses in India. My work covers
multiple areas of design - Branding, Packaging Design, Visual Merchandising, Collateral Design and Concept Development to name a few. I have 4 years of
experience in developing international standard of packaging for personal care products.
Currently, I work as a freelance design consultant for a few FMCG brands & run a women's work wear clothing line called Pomogrenade.

Previously, I was a design and brand consultant for Yogabars (Sproutlife Foods Pvt. Ltd.) for a year. Where I helped create a unique brand language and
packaging for their snack bar category and protein bar category.
Prior to that, I lead the design team at KMB Group as Visual Communication & Visual Merchandising Designer for their sub brands - KMB Estates, COVO,
Bulchee, Clover Fine Jewellery, etc. I had the opportunity to create the complete branding and design language for COVO, a lifestyle accessory brand.
My partners & I ran Socho Design & Consulting, a Bangalore based design studio. Together we worked to create meaningful experiences through design that
helps our clients evolve & excel. (April 2011 - Feb 2013) I continue to work as a part time constant with Socho Design.
The first few years of my design career I had the privilege & opportunity to work with Idiom Design & Consulting, and later with Foley Design Pvt. Ltd., two of
the best design houses in India.
Organized & Co-hosted the Global Sustainability Jam 2012, Bangalore chapter. An event which saw over 50 participants jamming for 48hrs with over 1200
participants around the world in 60 cities. Mentored the jammers and worked together with them to create ideas. Ideas born out of a structured ‘design
thinking’ and those that present a long term solution, not a quick fix, to some of the global issues of today.

4. Started with a packaging redesign of their snack bar
range and quickly evolved into a full-time consulting gig
for almost 2 years.
Developed various packaging from bar wrappers to
diwali boxes and brand promotional elements like
brochures, EDMs etc.

9. COVO came to be an evolving extension of Bulchee.
‘Covo’ comes from the Latin word meaning ‘Cave, lair or
den’. The whole brand was designed to be
unapologetic, forward-moving and always driven.
Brief : Legend says that when you can’t sleep at night
it’s because you’re awake in someone else’s dream.

world has numerous products targeted at multiple
stratus of consumers in the Indian market ranging from
toothpastes to toothbrushes.
Communicating the efficacy of the products, its
superiority and new dynamics leads them to continually
reinvent the scope of their products and is where

Our effort has been to create newer, fresher
contemporary designs that created an impact.

The bird - "Chun Chun Chick" is a metaphor to indicate
that the product has been carefully chosen and sorted
to give you the best.

Basmati rice. This brand is targeted mainly at the Hindu
& Muslim community.
Here we have created a background pattern that is a
blend of the arch elements from the Hindu & the Muslim

24. Post the concept stage, we were able to find precise x ray
images of plants by Mr. Albert Koetsier at

These X ray images were treated to bring in colours that
create a connect with the product category.
The transparency conveyed the brand values with product
specific herbs that spoke of the key ingredient.

27. Life is outside is a young company that helps you plan your
holidays, getaways online. Being strongly against the
growing mall culture in cities they took up the cause to
urge people to go spend their days off wisely and enjoy
the outdoors.
The company required communication material to aid this
campaign, communication that inspire and enthuse the
customer to make a change in their lifestyles and embrace
the outdoors.

31. Global Sustainability Jam is a Design Thinking based event
where people from different walks of life come together to
create sustainable business solutions in 48 hours.
Organizing this event was great of fun, where I got a
chance to learn Event Design, Coordination, Management,
Sponsorship Proposal and Pitches.

34. I love taking photographs and 100% trigger happy.
End of 2012, I wanted to send my friends in Europe some
India based postcards and didn’t really find anything
interesting. Since I’ve seen fair bit of India and tons of
pictures from there, I decided to design my own set of
Postcards.
They’ve been a big hit and have sold over 100 to Sweden,
Germany & USA. They will be available in travel shops
across India shortly!
