Here, we will cover all topic about transport layer. Transport layer which is belongs to networking field. here i will provide all about transport layer in networking. And also handshakes procses. connection-oriented and connectionless protocols. TCP(Transmission control protocol) and UDP (User datagram protocol)

3. Transport Layer:
The main aim of transport layer is to be
delivered the entire message from source to
destination.
Transport Layer Service Connectionless And
Connection-Oriented Protocols
4. Primary responsibilities of the Transport Layer:
• End to End service.
• Segmentation.
• Flow control.
• Control Error.
• Connection services.
Transport Layer Service Connectionless And
Connection-Oriented Protocols
5. Transport Layer Services:
In the transport layer we use .
• Connection-Oriented
• TCP (Transmission control protocol)
• Connectionless
• UDP (User Datagram protocol)
Transport Layer Service Connectionless And
Connection-Oriented Protocols
6. Transport Layer Service Connectionless And
Connection-Oriented Protocols
Connection-Oriented:
In connection oriented service we have to establish a
connection before starting the communication. When
connection is established we send the message or the
information and then we release the connection. It
uses handshake process to establish the connection between
the sender and receiver.
7. A handshake process includes some steps which are:
• Client requests server to set up a connection for transfer of
data.
• The client sends a SYN segment to the server.
• The server sends SYN+ACK to the client.
• Client sends 3rd segment i.e. just ACK segment.
• Then server terminates the connection.
Transport Layer Service Connectionless And
Connection-Oriented Protocols
8. Connectionless:
In connectionless the data is transferred in one
direction from source to destination without checking
that destination is still there or not or if it prepared to
accept the message. Authentication is not needed in
this.
Transport Layer Service Connectionless And
Connection-Oriented Protocols
9. Different Between Connection-oriented and
Connectionless Protocols:
• In connection oriented service authentication is needed
while connectionless service does not need any
authentication.
• Connection oriented service is more reliable than
connectionless service.
Transport Layer Service Connectionless And
Connection-Oriented Protocols
10. • Connection oriented protocol makes a connection
and checks whether message is received or not and
sends again if an error occurs connectionless service
protocol does not guarantees a delivery.
• In connection oriented protocol, Packets follow
different path to reach destination and may reach in
any order.
• In connectionless protocol, All the frames are sent
through same route or path.
