3. ๏ฝ Democracy is the most popular form of government today,
people are satisfied because they have a direct hand in running
the affairs of the state.
๏ฝ It is a scheme of government in which the people are allowed
to take part as a matter of fact.
๏ฝ As Abraham lincoln says about it:
๏ฝ โDemocracy is the government of the people, by the people
and for the people.โ
4. ๏ฝ In Direct democracies, everyone has the right to make laws
together. One modern example of direct democracy is
a referendum, which is the name for the kind of way to pass a
law where everyone in the community votes on it.
๏ฝ Direct democracies are not usually used to run countries,
because it is hard to get millions of people to get together all
the time to make laws and other decisions. There is not enough
time.
5. ๏ฝ In an indirect, or representative democracy, people choose
representatives to make laws for them. These people can be
mayors, councilmen, members of Parliament, or other
government officials.
๏ฝ This is a much more common kind of democracy.
๏ฝ Large communities like cities and countries use this method,
but it may not be needed for a small group.
6. ๏ฝ Five essentials of democracy are;
๏ฝ (1)People (2)Majority (3)Equality (4)Political parties
(5)Patience
๏ฝ These all five essentials are vital for democracy .i.e
7. *Democracy canโt come into being without people.
*Only that party can form government which has an overwhelming
majority, in this all the citizens of the state enjoy equal rights and
privileges.
Mean no one is considered superior to other.
*Political parties are the backbone of democracy, without them, it is
dictatorship not democracy.
* Democracy requires and teaches patience.
=>One learns how to tolerate others. Like all other systems, it has
merits as well as demerits.
8. ๏ฝ 1-It is government for the people.
๏ฝ 2-It works for the welfare of citizens.
๏ฝ 3-It gives people the authority to vote and change the
government.
๏ฝ 4-It gives an importance to the education of man.
๏ฝ 5-People feel a sense of self-help, security and responsibility.
๏ฝ It is said;
๏ฝ โDemocracy is a government that is run by the people and
run down by some of themโ.
9. ๏ฝ 1-It is an irresponsible government i.e no one bothers to
shoulder the common responsibility when a trouble befalls.
๏ฝ 2-It is an inefficient government i.e the election of illiterate
and uneducated people which cause of disputes.
๏ฝ 3-It breeds bribery and corruption i.e votes are bought and
sold, moral values are ignored.
๏ฝ 4-Everything is considered fair to gain the objectives.
๏ฝ 5-Party politics destroys the individually and freedom of the
people.
10. ๏ฝ Unfortunately, democracy in Pakistan has never flourished
.It has been a plaything in the hands of fortune seekers .
๏ฝ Pakistan has faced the problems of unstable government since
birth. It is still a dream. The causes of instability are illiterate
masses,political leaders and the dictators.
11. The inefficient people elect who donโt know their role in
government. After their election, they feather their nest
and pave the way for corruption.
The bribery, nepotism and favouritism prevail over the
society.
Such ineffiecient representatives remain busy in party
clashes. They forget their duties and cause failure of
democracy.
In my point of view, today democracy in our country is
not a democracy but a hypocrisy.
12. ๏ฝ Thus it is concluded that if our old leaders had been sincere
with democracy and had sacrificed their personal interests for
the sake of nation, the present situation would not have been so
crucial.
