The red squirrel is an endangered animal native to Europe and Asia. It has red or brown fur, a long tail, and eats nuts and seeds. Red squirrels are threatened by habitat loss, disease, traffic, and competition from grey squirrels, and there are only around 140,000 remaining in the UK.

AN ENDANGERED ANIMAL
My favourite endangered animal is the red
squirrel. Red squirrels live in Europe and Asia.
They are small and light. They have got red or
brown fur and a long tail.
They eat seeds and nuts. Red squirrels are
shy.
Red squirrels are endangered because of loss
of habitat, disease, road traffic and grey
squirrels. There are about one hundred and
forty thousand red squirrels in the UK today.
