A steam turbine is mounted on a casing and a rotor mounted with moving blades. The rotor is mounted in a casing consisting of rows of moving blades that penetrate between rows of fixed blades. High pressure steam flows through the turbine through fixed and reciprocating blades. The mechanism is such that the fixed blade directs the steam at a right angle to enter the moving blade. Utmost care must be taken so that the rotor and its casing withstand thermal stress and the moving blades attached to the rotor must withstand high centrifugal forces safely.
