PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Director Wellspring La Jolla Camps, CA. May 2010-October 2015
Lead a staff of up to 55 through the challenges of running Wellspring’s largest and most successful summer
camp for kids, families and adult women. Achieved highest client satisfaction, with many families returning
to camp by trusting my leadership and the caring environment I created and instilled on the staff.
Despite several financial challenges including high costs, I still managed to make the camp the most
profitable in the company.
My dedication and resolve was the key factor in overcoming many issues and successfully running the first
combined camp after the merger of Camp La Jolla with Wellspring.
Lead the creation, execution and institutionalization of processes and safety measures to have the camp
Accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), 5 years in a row. This is a prestigious accreditation
clients look for when choosing a summer camp; a mark of safety and highest quality. As a result, the camp
was able to enroll more clients and become more profitable.
Successfully negotiated with UCSD to lower their minimum “guaranteed” charges, increasing profitability of
the camp while maintaining the high quality of services offered by the university.
By cultivating a good working relationship with the Dining Hall staff, I managed to keep costs the same while
at the same time greatly improving the taste and menu variety of the meals.
Assistant Director Camp La Jolla – La Jolla, CA. Sept 2006-April 2010
Human Resource & Office Manager
Had overall responsibility of screening and interviewing hundreds of prospective applicants for summer
camp, then hiring the most qualified. My decision making process led to the hiring of the best-suited staff
which was critical to the success of the camp and the well-being of the kids.
Lead staff, projects and vendor negotiations through the complexities, challenges and preparations in
getting ready for camp. Saved the company significant amounts of money by reducing costs and improving
processes – how we got things done.
During camp operations, I was the go-to manager for addressing numerous operational, staff and camper
issues on a daily basis. This was a highly demanding, multitasking oriented environment. My ability to
prevent, identify and resolve problems quickly was critical in running a successful camp.
I earned respect and trust from the summer staff, many of them deciding to return the next year, knowing I
would be there to be both their leader and mentor.
