Ms. Lyne Butler worked under my direction at Eureka Genomics in July and
August, 2009. She was tasked with solving a project that was critical to our
company—rationalizing, streamlining and providing for accountability and
efficient communication in the company’s operations in the production of
contract research work in the area of next generation sequence data
generation and bioinformatics.
Ms. Butler applied appropriate tools, including MS Project, her knowledge
acquired from a year-long course of study in project management and her 10
years of experience as a manufacturing executive.
Ms. Butler successfully set up Microsoft Project with all the modules for the
contract research. This was a large task and involved resources with
dramatically different constraints, personnel in two states, and work flows
with hundreds of independent components. Ms. Butler’s work allowed us to
identify previously unknown risk factors (and implement risk reduction
practices). The implementation of the modules Ms. Butler developed
dramatically improved the efficiency of our processes in Operations
Management. We consider that this work is valuable now and has allowed us
to maximize resource usage and increase project flow through. As this
occurs without increased variable resource usage it has resulted in increased
profit.
From my perspective, this was a very challenging project. It was a pleasure
to work with Lyne. She is extremely professional and can be counted onto
met deadlines. I give her my highest commendation.
