Objective
Passion to quickly learn and apply technologies that provide effective, innovative
solutions that deliver on business requirements at the desktop, business unit, and global
enterprise level. Anything and everything is possible.
My Strengths
 Systems Administrator, and enterprise-level software engineer specializing in interconnectivity
 Have intense focus on the subject at hand - allowing me to learn quickly
 Great passion for creating software – approach software development as more art than science
 Effective listener and communicator - equally comfortable talking to an hourly shop-floor worker
or making a presentation to Senior Staff
 High values – integrity, commitment, and excellence
 Dedicate myself to doing whatever it takes, every single day
 Actually enjoy writing documentation – it is essential for training and support
Professional Experience
Senior Systems Administrator – Stoneridge, Inc : Sept. 2015 - today
Direct responsibility for Warren sites, and collaborate with colleagues in Boston, Lexington, Juarez,
Asia, Europe, and South America. Some of the technologies and services I am responsible for –
Exchange 2013 DAG’s Skype Services Direct Access for Mobile Powershell Programming
Commvault Backups Microsoft Systems Center SOX compliance Dell Compellent SAN
PRTG Monitoring/Alerting Change Management VMware Manufacturing Support
 Received a 10% bonus and a 3% raise in my first 7 months of employment for outstanding
contributions to the organization.
 Was recognized by our CIO for outstanding technical support to the engineering team in
Boston. “…That was one of the most impressive support experiences I think I’ve ever
had. Somebody you’ve never heard of comes in with about an hour to go before the FedEx
truck arrives, on the month-end Friday afternoon and says, We need you to find a 32gb
thumbdrive, move 18gb of data to it from an AS400 server, pack it, send over the tracking, and
get it to Auditors in Cleveland by tomorrow morning. And you freaking did it !”
 Direct responsibility for Stoneridge Senior Staff project and break-fix support at their Corporate
Headquarters in Warren, Ohio. I walked into a hornet’s nest of IT problems there, and within 3
months I had resolved all outstanding issues.

Systems, Cloud, Virtualization Administrator – Hiram College : 2001 – September 2015
Successfully rescaled and adapted the training and experience I received while at GE Lighting into
building a best-in-class datacenter at Hiram College. Given a dramatically smaller budget and staff, I
have been able to deliver 99.95% Service Level Agreement (SLA), significantly reduced costs, and lead
implementation of a variety of modern technologies campus-wide.
 Migrated Email, and moved on-premise Storage, Sharepoint, and Video to Office365. All Hiram
assets have been retired, and we have completely eliminated costs for all the systems.
o Implemented Office365 Unifying Groups, Sway, and Enterprise-Social (Yammer) with select
Faculty and Staff.
 In order to right-size our operation and dramatically reduce annual expenses, we were an early
adopter of virtualization technology. Of our 62 servers, 76% of them have been virtualized. This
has reduced cooling by 51% and power by 63%.
 Built a disaster recovery site for $7,400 that includes cooling, backup power, remote Domain
Controller+DNS, and near real-time replication of critical servers.
 Eliminated an EMC SAN – saving the datacenter $11,000 annually.
 To support our disaster recovery initiative, I Implemented daily synthetic backups using a
Grandfather-Father-Son technique on low-cost NAS, and standard 3-2-1 backups on higher-speed
disk and tape, using block-change-level backups, synthetic transformations, and deduplication.
Am able to assess situations and develop workable strategies that can mitigate potential damage,
and/or propose common-sense, cost effective solutions that we can agree to and move quickly on.
 Wrote a network crawler in under an hour (using Perl) to deal with a serious GONER malware
outbreak affecting over 100 workstations. The crawler was able to detect and reverse the damage
without compromising College assets.
 In order to address a budget shortfall, I devised a strategy to safely push our desktop/laptop
replacements out an additional two years. This saved the College $120k, and required very little
effort. Additionally, I devised a scheme to power those same computers down intelligently, saving
the College $18,200 in annual electricity costs, and significantly reduce their attack surface.
 While developing a plan to migrate all 3,400 on-premise Exchange mailboxes to the cloud-based
Live@EDU, I discovered an issue that prevented implementation. Rather than give up on the idea
and its tremendous benefits, I spent a month engineering a workaround that allowed us to
migrate. We were able to eliminate our entire on-premise email environment and all email costs,
as well as move a key system to a disaster-protected geo-redundant platform.
To feed my appetite for software development, I was responsible for all systems interconnect
programming - Oracle-based ERP, Moodle, Office365, Active Directory, Windows 2012r2, Redhat
Enterprise Linux, Amazon AWS.
 Automatic account provisioning/de-provisioning and attribute flow (Powershell, Perl, vbScript)
 Automated O365 Licensing and post provisioning tasks (Powershell and O365 commandlets)
 Password Management, and Disk Quota notifications
 Automated Amazon AWS server backups (bash scripting)

GE Lighting, NELA Park, Cleveland Ohio 1989 - 2001
Senior Enterprise Engineer – GE Global Server Team 1996-2001
Responsible for server engineering/support, and enterprise interconnect software at Nela Park and 26
manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Mexico, and Hungary.
Team Leader – GE Manufacturing Systems 1991-1996
Responsible for day-to-day management of a team of five at geographically diverse locations.
While in this role I developed Data Agent for the GE Six Sigma initiative - a skunkworks project. It
is essentially a set of data acquisition wizards rolled into an application that extracts and
consolidates data from disparate systems. It was so widely used and accepted within GE Lighting
that GE Corporate deployed it to all 13 GE businesses as the premier tool for Six Sigma data
acquisition.
Senior Systems Analyst 1989-1991
Lead an exciting project to extend voice and data across the Rio Grande from Del Rio, Texas to
Acuna, Mexico, using Microwave technology. This included face-to-face meetings with the Mexico
FCC (SCT) in Mexico City, as well as planning, procurement, installation, and testing of a system that
spanned 10 miles.
Recognition
 Recognized four times in 12 years by Senior GE Lighting Management for Sustained, Outstanding
Performance in the Execution of My Duties
 Recognized for Outstanding Contributions to the Acuna Mexico Microwave Communications and
Systems Project
 Rewarded GE Stock Options twice in 12 years
