1. In the summer vacation of my senior high school, I went to a poor village in
Guizhou Province as a volunteer teacher. Children there could hardly go to
school for lack of teachers or money. During the 15 volunteering days, I
taught Chinese for students in grade 6 of primary schools. In classes, I taught
them about poems and essays. In order to be a better teacher, I prepared
lessons for 3 hours and communicated with the children when I had time.
Finally, I took 30 classes there and all children loved what I taught very much.
2. I started to learn piano since I was 7 years old. As an amateur, when I was in
senior year of my high school, I went to attend the exam of level 9 of piano. I
was asked to play the sonatas of Mozart as well as the prelude and fugue
pairs of Bach and many other tunes. They seem really difficult for me. To
practice these tunes skillfully, I got up at 6 o’clock every day to practice 2
hours before I went to school. What’s more, on weekends, I almost stayed at
home and played these tunes times and times. Finally I passed the exam of
the level 9 of piano and all the efforts made sense.
3. This is the final performance of the military training. When I went to high school, the first
thing to do is military training. During the 10 days training, all students in our grades
wore military uniforms and were trained to standing as a soldier, walking in parade steps
as well as targeting and so on. In the final performance, we were asked to perform all we
were trained with enthusiasm and uniformity. In order to achieve higher grades, our
class practiced 2 more hours after the collective training over at 5 o’clock in the
afternoon. No matter rain or wind, no matter hot or insolation, we practiced all the time.
Finally, our class got 93 points in our performance and achieved the first place as well.
4. This photo was taken when I went to Xitang for a holiday. Xitang is an ancient
town in China, which is famous for its serenity. As you can see in the photo, an
old man was ferrying in the morning. Before this trip, I was under much stress for
my courses and future. However, staying in this small town for several days and
feeling the wind of serenity makes me calm down. I had snacks, took photos and
floated river lanterns here. Finally, a feeling of serenity in my mind rose up and I
began to believe that everything would be OK.
5. This photo was taken after a speech contest. When I was in high school, I participated
in a speech contest about love for our country and party. This was the first time I
made a speech in front of hundreds of people. I felt nervous but I told myself that I
had to persist. Before the speech, I practiced times and times. When other
competitors were making a speech, I paid much attention and thought about what
were the advantages and disadvantages. My persistence and learning from others
finally paid off and I was in the top 5.
