2. iPhone is one of the smartphone that have it
owns Operating Systems. It is called iOS. It was
developed to run on iPhone,
but until now it has been introduced to run on
iPod Touch and iPad. Like Windows OS, iOS can
have their own software install on its OS.
Most of the software are developed and store
in the Apple Store,
which the iPhone user can download and install
it on their iPhone.
The latest release of the iOS is iOS 4.0.2.

3. The History of iOS
• The first iOS is called iOS 1.0 or iPhone OS. It all began on 29 June 2007
when Apple Inc. unveil their first smart phone, named iPhone
• iOS is a derived from the MacOS operating system which most of its
application build on MacOS
• On 11 July 2008 Apple introduced the iOS 2. It was available with the
iPhone 3G. The older version of the iPhone can be upgraded to this new
version and it is the first time it syncs with the App Store
• iOS 2 also accept third-party applications that made by developer outside
the Apple Inc.
• iOS 3 was available on 17 June 2009. It come out with iPhone 3G S. This
version of iOS is more powerful in term of speed. It has added more
language like Malay, Hebrew, Indonesian, Greek and Arabic
• Major update on iOS 3 was on 15 July 2010 when Apple introduced search
engine “Bing”, a better WI-FI connection, and also fix bug when copy-
paste from a PDF page.

4. iOS 4
The latest version of iOS currently is iOS 4.
It was introduced to the public on 21 June 2010 with the
latest version of iPad and iPod that use iOS 4. The major
update from iOS 3 and iOS 4 is multitasking

5. Folders
All the games applications are shown in
the Games folder. In this way, it show
that iOS 4 is more manageable than the
oldest version of iOS and more user
friendly. User also can search the folder
they want. Example in Figure 2 shows
that user search the folder named
“Education” and the result will show
the folder and its applications.
In the picture, it shows that user can
make their own folders. In the figure ,
the user have created a folder named
“Utilities”, “Education”, ”Social” and
“Reading”. The user has put all the
games applications on the Games folder.
In this way user did not have to scroll
down to find the games he/she want to
play at the phone menu.

6. X-Code
How to build an iOS applications? Apple Inc. has developed a
suite to develop the applications for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad using
the XCode. It was pre-installed with Mac-OS. XCode 3.2 is the latest version
available. Until today the versions 4 comes with iOS 4.1. XCode support a
lot of range programming language such as C, C++, Fortran, Objective-
C, Objective-C++, Java, AppleScript, Python and Ruby. In 2003 XCode 1.0
was introduced . When installing XCode to user Mac-OS, it bundles with
Interface builder, iPhone simulator, Organizer
