As years tend to do, 2022 is racing by in a flash, and we’ve already arrived at the first
term school holidays, from April 9 until April 25. And with a few public holidays sprinkled
throughout (Easter, ANZAC Day), we get the feeling you’ll be on the hunt for things to
do over the next couple of weeks.
Read on below for a few ideas, some of them always in fashion, some of them firing up
just for the next two weeks:
Elizabeth Quay Fun Fair
Looking for some fun for the little ones this school holidays? The Elizabeth Quay Fun
Fair returns from April 9-25 for a couple of action-packed weeks featuring carnival rides
and attractions, sideshow games, food, drink and much more entertainment. Tickets are
only $12+BF online or $19+BF on the day for four 1.5hr sessions running every day –

2. Playground Playdates
Late last year we went on a little hunt to find the best kids playgrounds around Perth,
and managed to dig up 20 that are not only great (one even has a volcano), but will
keep the tiny ones occupied for hours (check ‘em HERE). We’ve also located a heap of
great nature playgrounds to explore, which you can check out HERE. The only thing
remaining is to see how many you can tick off, and how many you can these hols!
No More Blank Walls
Mt Lawley’s brand new street festival kicks off this weekend, running until April 16.
There are plenty of activations and tours to get amongst (if they haven’t already sold
out), but you can also just head along and check out all the new pieces as they come to

3. Adventure World
Perth’s biggest theme park is back open for business right up until April 25, with plenty
of rides for every age and ability. Head to their website to find out more.
Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition
Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition will allow you to experience the
Renaissance master’s work like never before: reproduced utilising high-definition photos
and innovating printing techniques that recreate the look and feel of the frescoes, you’ll
be able to get up close with the artwork and see every minute detail. It takes over
Fremantle’s The Naval Store from April 14 – book now.

4. Star Wars At Karrinyup
Jedis of all ages best grab their lightsabers and make their way to Karrinyup from April
9-14 when an epic new Star Wars Activation parks up for a few days. The Disney
collaboration is the first of its kind in WA, and will feature a life size X-Wing Fighter
Spacecraft, jedi training, sci-fi inspired fashion and special cinema screenings! Kids can
even jump in the cockpit of the X-Wing for a photo – find out more here.

5. Scitech
There’s a bunch of school holiday regulars we imagine most families roll through at
least a couple of times a year. Places like The Zoo, AQWA, Adventure World and so on,
but in terms of value for money it’s hard to go past Scitech. Passes for kids under the
age of 17 are only $12, and while adults are $19 (cheaper concession), you can get
great family deals that push it way down. From there you get access to all the good
stuff, like the Science Centre exhibition spaces, the Planetarium, Science Theatre and

Mini Golf

6. Perth is flush with a variety of fantastic options to suit kids of all ages (even the
parents!). We did the homework for you and went on a deep dive to discover all the best
courses around Perth – click here to find them all.
Caversham Wildlife Park
Owned by a WA family since 1988, the Caversham is home to the largest private
collection of native wildlife in the state. Get the whole family on board for some
interactive fun with the animals – you can hand-feed the kangaroos, pat a possum or
lizard, or say g’day to a wombat. Plus, watch the cheeky penguins at feeding time or get
a photo with a koala. Don’t forget, the park is within the larger Whiteman Park
conservation area, so you can follow up your visit with a walk through the bush and
wetlands.

7. Landsdale Farm
A unique educational farm experience just north of Perth, Landsdale Farm is a fantastic
way to introduce your kids to the agricultural world (and have a lot of fun while doing it).

Take A Hike
Perth is filled with fantastic walking and hiking trails, both in the city and just out of it.
Fortunately many of these walking trails are perfect to take the kids along to, and are

WA Museum Boola Bardip
The museum’s redevelopment has become the jewel of the Cultural Centre, with world-
class collections in a stunning building that merges old and new. Beyond the building’s
impressive aesthetic, the permanent exhibition Ngalang Koort Boodja Wirn shares the
stories, history and culture of First Nations peoples of Western Australia. If you’re
looking for more reasons why the museum is so great – particularly for kids – here’s
eight of them.
AQWA

9. We have some fond childhood memories of visiting AQWA, so it’s always a relief to
discover that the aquarium is getting better and better for each generation. Kids can
marvel at the iconic marine life of WA in exhibits that closely replicate the natural
environments – did you know that AQWA is one of only a few aquariums in the world
that don’t use artificial coral? They’ve got heaps of year-round experiences to get close
up to the marine life, plus a selection of extra activities scheduled for the school
holidays, which you can check out here.
AGWA
If the arts are more your kids’ jam, the Art Gallery Of Western Australia is currently
hosting Blaklight, a month-long celebration of First Nations art and culture. AGWA will
be hosting meaningful cross-cultural and intergenerational knowledge sharing through

Rio Tinto Naturescape, Kings Park
Get in touch with nature at Rio Tinto’s Naturescape in Kings Park. The dedicated
naturespace offers an incredibly engaging way for kids to experience and understand
the Western Australian bush. Covering six hectares, it features the likes of large aerial

10. walkways, a creek and waterhole for wading in, a cubby-building area, tunnels, rocks,
climbing rocks and more. Once you’ve conquered it pop over the Synergy Parklands for
an awesome nature playground and huge dinosaurs to climb on.
Head For The Hills
To make the most of the (slightly) cooling temperatures, we recently packed up the car
and headed for a trip to the Perth hills, where picturesque surrounds, delightful
beverages and delicious feasts await us. It’s not all kid-friendly, but they’ll love the new
nature playground at Churchman Brook Dam, romping around Raeburn Orchards and
Araluen Botanic Park, or catching up with some crocodiles at Armadale Wildlife &

Nostalgia Box

11. Nostalgia Box is the perfect spot to show your kids what gaming used to be about!
Located in the middle of Northbridge, it’s home to over 100 video game consoles dating
all the way back to the 1970s, providing incredibly detailed histories for all of them. Most
importantly, there’s an interactive area where you can play a bunch of old games like
Mario Kart, Space Invaders, Pong and more. It’s important to BOOK AHEAD, where
you’ll find kids passes are only $12 (adults $17).
Scarborough Beach Foreshore
Since being redeveloped a couple of years ago the Scarborough Beach foreshore
precinct has become an absolute hot spot for locals and visitors alike. And it’s jam
packed with fun and free activities to keep the tiny ones going all day. Of course there’s
the beach (and with a bit of swell some great surfing), but you’ve also got the huge
skate bowl, quarter basketball court, mini rock climbing wall, a huge kids Whale
Playground and the grassy knoll perfect for watching all the action go down. And don’t
forget the Sunset Markets every Thursday night.

12. Cohunu Koala Park
For a big day out a little further out of Perth, Cohunu Koala Park down in Byford is a
great chance to get your kids acquainted with some native Australian wildlife. There are
parrots, emus, kangaroos, owls, deer and of course, koalas. There’s even some replica
dinosaurs (we’re sensing a bit of a Jurassic theme on this list) and a kids train to choo

Befriend a Black Cockatoo at Kaarakin
Australia is home to five species of black cockatoos, all of which are endangered due to
a combination of land clearing, illegal shooting and competition with other species. The
folks at Kaarakin are committed to saving as many of these iconic birds as possible –
rescuing and rehabilitating them from countless threats, including being struck by
vehicles, shot, or attacked by cats. While you can’t just turn up and hang out with the
