2. Employment History:
Peasegoods Solicitors, Blackley, Manchester
Trainee Solicitor
June 2001 to October 2003
Within the Litigation Team of busy firm of Solicitors my role was to assist one of the partners with
his caseload of over 300 files, undertaking a mixture of Personal Injury, Housing, Conveyancing,
Family and Probate matters. My main duty involved taking instructions from new clients on a
daily basis in legal surgery dealing with all matters referred to above.
Six months into my training contract I took over a departing fee earners caseload, an opportunity I
relished. I then began to focus largely on Housing and Personal Injury cases.
Associate Solicitor
October 2003 to May 2008
Upon qualification I continued to work predominantly in the areas referred to above. My fee
income was in excess of £80000 each year. I dealt with a wide range of Fast Track Value Personal
Injury and Housing Matters and also obtained multi track experience.
I developed a wealth of Court experience, appearing in Chambers and in Open Court on a regular
basis. I was a Duty Solicitor at Manchester County Court, dealing with rent possession matters
and anti social behaviour injunctions. I undertook my own advocacy as much as possible and have
dealt with a variety of hearings ranging from Allocation to Detailed Assessment of Costs.
As Deputy Housing Supervisor I had direct involvement in Case Management together with the
monitoring of work undertaken by junior members of staff.
Hillis Solicitors, Levenshulme, Manchester
May 2008 to May 2013
Working as part of a team of 4 fee earners, I dealt with a wide range of matters which included
low level RTA work together with fast/multi track value EL and PL matters. I settled 2 litigated
matters in 2013 with values in excess of £60,000.
Being the most experienced fee earner within the practice I assisted colleagues with problem files
and attempted to offer help and advice wherever I was able to. I dealt with all my own advocacy
up to trial. My fee income was in excess of £190,000 per year from 2009 onwards based on a case
load of between 140 and 160 files.
