INTRODUCTION
I have worked in administration roles for a number of years and covered a variety of roles
from banking and finance, mortgage lending and personal assistant positions. I feel that I am
extremely hard working, helpful, very well organised and a good team member. I am able to
prioritise work well and use my own initiative. I feel that I am quick to learn new processes
and am happy to make suggestions for any changes to add to the efficiency of the running
of a department.
EMPLOYMENT
I am presently taking a career break for family reasons and will be hoping to return to
employment in Summer2015. Details of my previous roles are as follows:
Natalie Gamble Associates - Office Assistant – Jan 2014 – October 2013
Although the position was titled “Office Assistant”, I was actually acting as a PA to three
solicitors. The work was very demanding and interesting. In this role I dealt with clients on
the telephone and face to face on a daily basis. I fielded calls from clients to the solicitors
and responded to email enquiries. I drew up letters of engagement and ran the diaries for
the solicitors. It was my duty to open new client files on Alpha Law and prepare a “hard” file
also. I would undertake daily filing of “hard” correspondence, solicitor’s emails and client
electronic filing. I would provide whatever administration support was requested by the
solicitors. I would also distribute the daily post, take payments from clients, send out
monthly invoices and undertake the banking. I would also prepare bundles for the Courts
under instruction from the Solicitors.
PA to Chief Officer of the Home Department (Guernsey) – June 2008 – September 2013
My principle duties in this role included; running the diary/calendar for the Chief Officer and
Deputy Chief Officer; having control of the Chief Officer’s and Deputy Chief Officer’s emails;
arranging conferences and travel as required; attending meetings and taking minutes;
liaison with politicians and members of the public; assisting the Heads of Services for the
relevant areas under the Home Department mandate – Fire & Rescue Service, Probation
Service, Prison Service, Police Service, Guernsey Border Agency; line Management control
for the Administration Assistant; overseeing and coordination of administration within
Central Services and drafting responses to letters received by the Minister, the Chief Officer
and Deputy Chief Officer of the Home Department.
PA to the Prison Governor – August 2006 – February 2008
In this role I administered the Governor’s diary, took calls and provided administration
services as required. I also acted as PA to the Deputy Prison Governor who was then
promoted to the position of Chief Officer of the Home Department and I later became his
PA in that role. Whilst working at the Prison I also attended regular risk management
meetings and drew up the minutes. I collated key performance targets and updated these
spreadsheets and graphs for presentation at monthly meetings. I provided administration
support and typing for the Principal Officers, the Prison Doctors and maintained prisoner
disciplinary files.
Foster Carer – September 2004 – August 2006
I became a short term foster carer as having adopted our daughter we wanted to be able to
help other children and struggling families. Whilst fostering we had three separate
placements for varying lengths of times and covering differing age groups. Although I
enjoyed this time I missed working in an office environment and the adult company. I
therefore chose to go back to full time employment. However, whilst fostering I had regular
meetings with professionals and parents and had to provide regular care plans and written
updates to the social workers. I was therefore dealing with a variety of people at different
times all with differing needs (both the children and the parents).
Bristol & West International – Senior Lending Officer – June 2000 – December 2004
Whilst working as a mortgage lender I was trusted with my own underwriting facility of
£300,000. In Guernsey all the mortgages were sanctioned locally and the underwriter had to
assess the customers’ ability to repay the mortgage. At times, when I had to decline clients, I
was verbally abused, but this taught me how to stay calm and polite in a difficult situation. I
regularly spoke with intermediaries, surveyors and solicitors. I would see the mortgage
through from beginning to end, drawing up offer letters and arranging life insurance. I
would also liaise with the courts in respect of arranging the security over the client’s
property. I dealt with arrears and setting up repayment plans with clients.
Barlcays Bank PLC – Various Roles – July 1983 – June 2000
Whilst working at Barclays Bank, where I stayed for 17 years, I undertook a vast array of
roles which helped me to develop my customer service skills, administration skills and
management skills. For a two year period whilst there I ran a small sub branch and had 6
staff reporting to me. This helped me develop my personnel management skills and my
administration management skills. In addition, I was a PA to one of the Corporate Managers,
progressing to being the PA for the Deputy Island Director and finally the PA for the Island
Director. I was also the Mortgage Specialist at Barclays Bank for 6 years.
EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS
I attended St Andrews Primary School between 1970 and 1976. I undertook the 11 plus in
1976 and won a scholarship to the Grammar School for Girls where I obtained 10 O Levels
(grades A – C) and 2 CSE Grade 1’s. I also obtained A level Economics. Whilst working at
Barclays I undertook the Institute of Bankers exams, completing the conversion course in
2004. This involved studying economics, law and accountancy, in relation to banking.
In 2005 I commenced an OU degree. I completed this in 2008 and obtained a BSc. I
undertook 8 different modules covering a variety of topics, with the majority being
mathematically based.
INTEREST AND ACTIVITIES
I am an avid reader and enjoy doing puzzles. I am very much a homely person and enjoy
spending time with my family, walking the dog etc. I enjoy watching football and attending
football matches when possible. I like to socialise with friends and normally end up being
the organiser for work events. I am actively involved in a local children’s charity, assisting
with events and acting as a secretary.
