To the Editor,
In the year of 2015 there will be an estimated 1.6 million new cancer diagnoses in the
United States, and nearly 600,000 cancer deaths. These are staggering numbers. Cancer
continues to take a major toll on Americans, as only heart disease contributes to more deaths
yearly. Some studies have even proven that people on the poverty line are more likely to be
diagnosed with cancer, with a mortality rate over 10 percent. Because of their lack of money, it is
extremely difficult for these people to lead a decent life. The Fill Your Bucket List Foundation
aims to create lasting memories for cancer patients on the poverty line by granting them a wish
funded by donors.
A great example of the power of granting wishes can be seen in one of the Fill Your
Bucket List Foundation’s wish recipients, Jimmy. Jimmy was diagnosed with a brain tumor
about one year ago. As a result of the diagnosis he was unable to travel or do many of the things
he had wanted to do in life. Jimmy, who is a major country music fan, had always wanted to visit
Nashville, TN. After his daughter contacted the Fill Your Bucket List Foundation, this trip was
made a reality. Jimmy and his wife had the time of their lives as they were able to meet country
music legends, visit recording studios, and more. It is a trip they will never forget and was a
great relief from the daily grind of having cancer.
Jimmy is far from the only cancer patient in need of a relief. Donate to the Fill Your
Bucket List Foundation to give others like him memories they treasure forever by following this
