Both the name of the

unique as it shows a man
falling into a crowd. This is
unique as it has nothing to

albums content itself.
Although this does not

does however adhere to the

3. BASTILLE – BAD BLOOD
This first album cover includes a road
with the idea that the person in the
image is being chased as he has a
spotlight on him (which is most
seemingly the headlight from a car).
This second album cover contains an abandoned car in
the middle of nowhere. This links in with the theme of
the first album cover as it holds the same idea of a
mysterious car. In addition to this they also link due to
the layout and font of the text. This second cover
however, is not as dark as their first. Instead of a colour
scheme that leans towards hues of sepia this album
uses a bold white colour. Although the different colour
scheme, this album still manages to adhere to the
conventions of album covers by including the name of
the album and all the important details such as; the
albums producers and the bands signature font style
(this is good as it ensures recognisability amongst the
bands audience).
Colour scheme: The colour scheme for this cover is made up of dark toned colours. It
is this contrast (to its background) which assists in making the white appear more
prominent.
The image itself is quite unconventional as it looks illustrated (rather than a typical
photograph). This adds to the unique image the band holds.
Furthermore, both of Bastille’s covers link to the connotations of being a rock band by
the incorporation of a dark, edgy type feel (given by the dark colours used).
4. ALT J
• Album cover coincides with the album name ‘An Awesome Wave’ as it has a marble affect which
closely resembles moving water.
•The cover doesn’t display the album name which is counter typical of other generic (mainstream)
album covers as the artist wishes to be recognised. This countertype is to be expected of the Indie
music genre as they tend to celebrate being different.
•Back of the album is unconventional of other album covers as it does not conform to having the typical
list of songs in chronological order.

5. KODALINE
•The font style is very simplistic.
•Only the name of the artist and the album are on the front in quite a small
font which adds to the minimalistic style of the album.
•Quite picturesque scenes on both sides of the album (mountains and a lake)
– this is something that their target audience will appreciate as their
audience (indie) tends to enjoy art.
