Luca Missaglia is one of the UK’s leading Mixologist and Senior Bar Manager for
Aqua Shard – a venue that brings the essence of modern London to Level 31 of
The Shard, fourth-tallest building in Europe designed by the Italian architect
Renzo Piano.
Embodying Aqua Restaurant Group’s commitment to delivering the finest food
and drink experiences for its guests, Luca brings a wealth of knowledge and
experience to the venue.
Luca, originally from Vimercate a city near to Milan in Italy, since the early age of
14 he knew he wanted to work in the hospitality business and while at school he
took a number of part time jobs in local restaurants.
Once he graduated he soon discovered the glamorous and chic cocktail bars of
Milan and it was there, in one of these establishments that he noticed the
exceptional level of service offered by the bartender. He decided that this,
combined with his love for cocktails and good conversation was to be his
vocation.
In 2009 he came to London to experience some of the best bars in Europe as LAB
Bar (London Academy of Bartenders) Luca continued to hone his mixology skills
at a venue renowned as a training ground for some of the industry’s leading
bartenders. Luca subsequently joined Quo Vadis in 2011, where he was mentored
by the multi award-winning Zdenek Kastanek.

2. Whilst here Luca’s accolades grew, winning the UK Disaronno Mixing Star 2012
and UK Nikka Perfect Serve in 2013.
Benefitting from Kastanek’s desire to teach and share his experiences, Luca
followed in his footsteps to become Bars Manager and established himself as a
well-known and respected figure within the London Bar scene. In this role Luca
relished the challenge of overseeing a team and ensuring that the highest quality
customer service and cocktails were consistently executed.
Luca joined Aqua London in 2014, before moving to Aqua Shard at the end of
2015.
A natural team leader, Luca possessing the required communication skills, to
increasing sales and development of a business, flexible in the ability to adapt to
challenges when they arise while remaining aware of professional roles and
boundaries.
His philosophy for hospitality is focused on creating an entire experience for the
guests, going beyond good drinks and service.
Luca brings his expertise, charisma and dedication to Aqua Shard, where the
menu reflects his belief that a cocktail list should be a simple yet impactful
collection of drinks.
