WYETH RESEARCH, Collegeville, PA 1995- 2008
Research Scientist II, Women's Health and Musculoskeletal Biology (2000-2008)
Developed and executed in vitro functional assays for fast track projects under exacting and critical timelines. Emphasis on
advancing projects, either independently or as part of a team. Developed and validated new assays related to receptor
function and the effects of hormone treatments. Introduced and validated yeast-based assays, mammalian 2- hybrid systems
as well as the gene expression by baculovirus and adenovirus systems.
•Developed primary transfection screens for the chemical screening group, followed up with secondary
screens to analyze the compounds obtained from a high throughput screen.
• Focused on steroid receptor function, hormone replacement therapy, contraception and reproductive endocrinology.
Developed biochemical conversion assays to monitor neuronal transmission in the brain specifically as related to
enzymatic reactions effecting female sexual dysfunction. Generated, analyzed and communicated results to team
members. Project status was advanced on development track months before the scheduled completion date.
• Developed dual-transfection cell based assays to directly target the interaction of androgen receptor (AR) and nuclear
receptor co-repressor (NCoR) to develop non-steroidal selective AR modulators for the treatment of prostate cancer and
male fertility. The AR/NCoR project was advanced to the next stage of development several months before the targeted
    completion date.
• Supervised junior staff members on various molecular biology techniques, assay development, efficient execution of
experiments and analytical review of data. Directed and coached junior scientist on the intricacies of assay stability,
method development, trouble-shooting and validation. Instructed on usage of analytical programs for data interpretation.

Research Scientist I, Women’s Heath Research Institute (1997-2000)
Conducted research on nuclear receptors supporting the evaluation of potential targets by analyzing molecular mechanisms
involved in tissue-specific regulation. Characterization of targets and compounds obtained from HTS were determined by
ELISA, gel shift, Western and cell-based transfection assays.
• Developed primary assay for meiotic gene expression as related to male fertility. Focus on development of a non-
hormonal drug that would disrupt the meiotic DNA break repair of the MSH5 gene for the purpose of male contraception.
Assisted in the protein sequence design for antibody production. Isolated, purified and tested the MSH antibodies for
     reactivity.
• Performed qPCR analysis of gene regulation in phases of meiosis. Used tissue specific mRNA obtained from mice at
different stages of development. Analyzed data representing the progression of genes as they were up-regulated and
     down-regulated in different meiotic phases.
• Provided support for yeast, insect and mammalian cell-based assays including subsequent analysis of data and
submission of data for company database protocols.

Senior Molecular Biologist, Women’s Health Research Institute (1995-1997)
Supported the research of three senior scientists: maintained and supplied necessary tissue culture, performed transient
transfections and treated appropriately, generated baculovirus as needed, and analyzed and presented data with future
experimental focus.
•Characterized cell lines with regard to estrogen receptor in order to identify and profile candidate compounds.
• Analyzed the estrogenic response of candidate “hot flush” genes by developing second-generation gene transcription
assays to profile candidate compounds. Genes were analyzed using molecular biology techniques and results presented
to the group along with follow-up experimental plans.
