Happy March to everyone!!!! Let me begin by saying, enough with the snow already!! I
don’t know who made Mother Nature upset, but will you please apologize!!!!!
Car shows and cruise-ins will be vamping up very soon, there are several car shows next
month, see a full list on our calendar page.
But before all that begins, some of our club members need your thoughts and prayers.
We have so many with health issues at this time. Pictured here at just two of our
members who desperately need your prayers at this time. Pictured at the top left are
member Dwayne Porterfield and his granddaughter,
Journey who was our “Miss Winter Angel Expo”.
Dwayne is in a Knoxville hospital and is not doing well,
his wife Gwen is by his side; please keep them both in
your prayers. Pictured below are Mary Nell McGinnis (on
left) and Theresa Blanken, Mary Nell was recently
released from the hospital after suffering a stroke; she is
continuing to recover at this time, her husband Don, who is
the current HCCC President, recently lost his brother in
law and is having to care for his sister as well as Mary
Nell. Please remember them. My heart is so heavy; I love
my fellow HCCC members and pray for them daily. My
love to all of you!!!

President’s Letter—March 2015 by Don McGinnis
Thank God, the month of February is over. Not only has the weather
been hard to deal with, but Feb. was not very kind to my family. I lost
my brother-in–law toward the first of the month, leaving me to care
for my sister who is blind, on dialysis, insulin, and cannot stay by her-
self. Then the last of the month my wife Mary Nell had a stroke, leav-
ing her right side partially paralyzed . She is now and will be for sev-
eral weeks in rehab. Hopefully she will regain the use of her arm &
leg. I want to thank everyone for their prayers, calls, and offers to
help. At this time there is nothing that can be done. Leave it up to
God, the Dr.’s and the folks at the rehab center. Yesterday I just heard
about Dewayne Porterfield being in Knoxville Hospital. Our prayers
go out to Dewayne and Gwen as well as other car club members who
are sick or hurting.
I have not had time to work on any of our car club projects, but I
know the other club officers and members will handle everything con-
cerning our upcoming activities or cruise-ins. Theresa has the Victory
Junction Fun Run to Randleman NC. coming up in April. Several
members are riding in the large van (holds 24 passengers ) while oth-
ers are driving. Not only will we be taking over 125 Teddy Bears for
the children, this will be a fun trip. She has several Garage tours &
meetings with Nascar personnel.
Not much to report on about car shows most of them start last of
April or the first of May. Check the coming events section in this
news letter for more information. Remember our monthly club meet-
ing at Shoney’s every 3rd

McGinnis called the meeting to order and also offered the opening prayer.

Motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting as published in the newsletter was made by Jerry Kloos with a
second from Ted Kalagian, minutes were accepted.
Jerry Kloos read the treasurer’s report; motion to accept the report was made by Paul McLain with a second from
Butch Grooms, report was accepted as read.

Danny case reported on a car show on June 13th
at Fred Miller Park. This show is to benefit the Morristown’s
first fire truck restoration. There are scrapbooks available to view the progress.
Jerry Kloos suggested we give a $350 gift card away at the Christmas Party. Eligibility for the drawing will come
from those who have signed up to work the trailer at a cruise-in, and the recommendation was made that the
schedule be completed before the first cruise-in. Each time you work will count, for example, if you work the
trailer on two occasions, you will have two chances at the gift card. If you sign up for a night and will be unable
to attend, it is your responsibility to get someone to replace you. Paul McLain made motion to proceed with a
second from Ted Kalagian. Motion was approved.
Plaque was delivered to Citizen Tribune.
Butch Grooms gave update on Jr. Club. They are working on motor to be given away; tickets are now being sold
on the motor. They will have the car show on April 25th

Greetings HCCC!
The person that complains about it being too hot, well, just doesn’t know what
I’ll say! This has been terrible! Ready for Mongo Jerry’s, “In the Summertime
“song.
Not only has the weather sucked, our HCCC family has been covered up in sick-
ness and tragic events. Please remember all our brothers and sisters as the deal
with all their problems and issues. I can sit and cry as I say a prayer for them.
The worker schedule sign-ups have begun for the cruise-ins; every date you
work gives you a chance for a $350.00 gift card that will be given away at our
annual Christmas party in December. Four chances will be given for each night
worked because 4 people or 2 couples are needed to operate the trailer. When
you sign up, you are obligated to find your replacement if there becomes a rea-
son you can’t work. Sign-up sheet will be at the monthly meeting.
Meetings are being planned for our Winter Angel Expo 2016; anyone wanting to
be a part of this need to let Jerry or myself know. We will have a meeting in the
near future. Also, plans are being made to park cars again this year at the Jeffer-
son County fair and yes, for more money! That will be discussed in April with
the fair participants.
Car shows are coming up in April! Just some I encourage you to attend are the
Jefferson County Jr. Club show which is April 4th
, Witt Baptist Church on April
11th
and of course, the HCCC Jr. Club show on April 25th
. In May will be,
Downtown Crossroads on May 2nd
, which will also be our first cruise in of the
year at College Square Mall. HCCC member Dan, will be having a benefit car
show at Big Lots on May 9th
and the FOP show will be on May 16th
. Help us on
these!!
Again, remember in prayer all our family, friends, club and country!! Please to
make every effort to attend our monthly meetings and prepare for 2015!
Happy cruzing!!!

The Hamblen County Car Club
The Citizen Tribune is nearing its 50th
anniversary of providing Lakeway Area residents
in depth and up-to-date news, sports, weather, community events and advertising mes-
sages.
In1966, Lakeway Publishers Inc was formed with a mission of delivering accurate and
current news so the Lakeway Area’s population would be well informed on the most
important issues affecting their lives. That mission is still at the forefront of the paper’s
operations today but with many more delivery platforms available.
Delivering 5,000 daily newspapers in 1966 has swelled to nearly 25,000 Sunday and
daily deliveries today. The multiple delivery platforms have evolved over the decades
include the printed product, website (www.citizentribune.com), email blasts, text alerts,
mobile coupons and others.
In the 1990’s Lakeway Publishers started a special niche publications division and to date
has two monthly magazines and a dozen more annual publications that are distributed to
Hamblen and surrounding counties.
All in all, the Citizen Tribune has more than 50 products in its portfolio. But Lakeway
Publishers has grown, not only in Morristown, but across the southeast. While the corpo-
rate headquarters remain in Morristown, the company now has more than 30 newspapers
and shoppers in Middle Tennessee, Virginia, Missouri and Florida. In all, Lakeway Pub-
lishers, with all its newspapers, has a combined circulation of 480,000 with more than 1.2
million readers in print alone.
As the Citizen Tribune looks ahead to the second half of its first century, the newspaper
world has changed in significant and exciting ways. However, at least one thing remains
constant. The company’s commitment to its original mission remains as steadfast as ever.
