and written skills, project management, financial aspects, social concerns
and ethics; and
To establish Industry-University interaction for technology, research and
development.
t gives me immense pleasure to be the part of Lingaya's University as its Chancellor since October 2014. Lingaya's
University before being declared Deemed-to-be-University was known as Lingaya's Institute of Management andITechnology (LIMAT) and was one of the best self-financed Institutions in the State of Haryana. During last oneYear, I have very
closely observed Lingaya's University for its educational initiatives, well-defined processes including teaching-learning, extra-
curricular, co-curricular and extension activities, the discipline among students and faculty members and unconditional
support to faculty and staff by the Management. I am sure that in times to come, this University shall be known for developing
world class graduates who shall not only be good professionals but excellent human beings and shall bring laurels to their alma
mater.
In today's competitive world, quality is the only mantra for long term existence and unless one clearly understands this, has no
hope for survival. During last several years, the country has witnessed unprecedented growth in technical education which we
had dreamt during my tenure as the first Full-time Member Secretary, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on
deputation from University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) regarding generating larger numbers for abundant supply than the
demand and thus bringing competition for quality. However, this growth has led to some burning issues such as scarcity of
quality faculty and generation of unemployable graduates in technical education but at the same time institutions who are not
serious, have started closing down and it is expected that in times to come, the quality institutions shall only survive and self-
financing institutions shall by synonyms to quality institutions.
I invite you to take this opportunity to be a great scholar at this University by participating in academic and extracurricular
activities for an all-round development and become a part of the great culture that Lingayans are proud of.

The world currently is amidst of knowledge economy. In the
knowledge economy, knowledge is of primary importance in contrast
to natural resources, physical, capital and labour force in creating
tangible and intangible value to the society.
Knowledge work requires non-routine problem solving approach
with a combination of convergent, divergent and creative thinking.
Knowledge workers with their education and background earn their
living by thinking.
In the knowledge economy, Research, Development and Innovation
(RDI) are very important components in creating the wealth and
ensure the high growth path. This is more so in the present day
environment where new and innovative products and solutions are
introduced in the market place every day replacing the earlier
products very fast – one striking examples being the mobile phones.
The major requirement is the knowledge workers with innovative
skills and conductive environment. It is our role and responsibility to
appropriately impart skills with high knowledge component and
innovative skills to meet challenges of knowledge economy.
Lingaya's University has conceived a pragmatic and focussed
approach for Research, Development and Innovation.
To provide adequate attention to RD and Innovation, the RD and
Innovation Cell has been established by the University. The RD and
Innovation Cell is identifying various components and making
implementation plans of the same including: 1) faculty and student
Ph.D enrolments 2) taking up RD and innovation projects with
problem solving approach for both local and global problems and
issues and guiding the faculty in preparation of the project proposals
3)Participation of both graduate and post-graduate students in the
RD and student Innovation, 4) enhancing the course curricula
with the RD experience, 5) collaboration with industry
6) Collaboration with other universities and institutions, 7) multi
disciplinary research, 8) publications and patents/copyrights,
9) entrepreneurship development and incubation, 10) organizing as
well as participating in workshops conferences, 11) organizing
expert lectures etc. The University has constituted the following
bodies:
RD and Innovation Cell

  • 7. t gives me immense pleasure to be the part of Lingaya's University as its Chancellor since October 2014. Lingaya's University before being declared Deemed-to-be-University was known as Lingaya's Institute of Management andITechnology (LIMAT) and was one of the best self-financed Institutions in the State of Haryana. During last oneYear, I have very closely observed Lingaya's University for its educational initiatives, well-defined processes including teaching-learning, extra- curricular, co-curricular and extension activities, the discipline among students and faculty members and unconditional support to faculty and staff by the Management. I am sure that in times to come, this University shall be known for developing world class graduates who shall not only be good professionals but excellent human beings and shall bring laurels to their alma mater. In today's competitive world, quality is the only mantra for long term existence and unless one clearly understands this, has no hope for survival. During last several years, the country has witnessed unprecedented growth in technical education which we had dreamt during my tenure as the first Full-time Member Secretary, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on deputation from University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) regarding generating larger numbers for abundant supply than the demand and thus bringing competition for quality. However, this growth has led to some burning issues such as scarcity of quality faculty and generation of unemployable graduates in technical education but at the same time institutions who are not serious, have started closing down and it is expected that in times to come, the quality institutions shall only survive and self- financing institutions shall by synonyms to quality institutions. I invite you to take this opportunity to be a great scholar at this University by participating in academic and extracurricular activities for an all-round development and become a part of the great culture that Lingayans are proud of. From the Desk of Chancellor 4 Prof. J.P. Gupta (Chancellor, Lingaya's University) Former Vice Chancellor JIIT, Noida and Sharda University, Greater Noida
