Is a system of two or more computers that are
connected with one another for the purpose of
communicating data electronically…
(Britannica,(2022).
It is also a system of two or more computers that
are connected and able to communicate and share
files, software and hardware.

5. TYPES OF COMPUTER NETWORK
Two basic types of computer
network:
1. Local Area Network (LAN)
2. Wide Area Network (WAN)

6. LOCALAREA NETWORK (LAN)
It is a computer network that usually covers a single
room, a single building or close buildings like
university residences, for this reason, they are privately
owned for the purpose of sharing resources like
printers, a servers and modem.
It ranges from a small network that covers a distance of
10m in an office.
At most it covers a radius of roughly a kilometre.

7. CONTINUATION
Local Area Network can be wired or wireless.
It is said to be wired when nodes are
connected using cables and switches
 It is wireless if nodes are connected by
wireless devices and communication is through
radio waves, normally referred to as Wi-Fi

9. WIDE AREA NETWORK (WAN)
Is a computer network that covers a ,large
geographical area through a shared
communication path.
It can also be defined as group of Local Area
Networks that communicate with each other.
The most common example of WAN is the
internet.
