1. What have you learnt from your
audience feedback?
Liam Edwards
2. In lesson today we all sat down in our groups and
watched each others music videos. We anonymously
commented on things we liked and disliked about the
other groups’ videos.
It was a good process as it allowed us to actually be
honest with each other and in the end we finished
with a good set of positive and negative feedback for
our video.
Process of audience feedback
3. Our audience feedback allows us to pin point where
we could improve our media production, thus
improving our media skills.
We got 3 sets of feedback which gives us a wide
ranging and varied set of opinions which will really
help us to understand how we could of improved our
production.
Importance of audience feedback
4. From this feedback we were applauded
on our lighting, wide use of settings,
fitting into genre, camera shots and
angles. This gave us confidence that our
production was enjoyable for this
audience.
However, this group suggested there
are too many blurry shots, and font
wasn’t particularly to their taste. These
are fair comments, despite the blurry
shots being deliberate, perhaps they
weren’t needed and could have been
replaced by clear shots.
All in all the group suggested these
comments were ‘petty’ and we ‘did
well’ so we are happy and content with
this set of audience feedback.
Feedback set 1
5. In this set of feedback the things that
seemed to please the audience were
our good lip syncing, clear narrative
and the range of shots.
On the other hand negatives in our
video included the confusion as to
why Patrick and Ben were in the video.
This was because we wanted to create
a pop genre boy band feel to our
video. I agree this could have been
confusing when they were on screen
as they were not included in the clear
narrative.
Once again I believe this is positive
feedback, however are flaws are more
clearly stated, which we can improve
on next time to improve our media
skills.
Feedback set 2
6. As a group we haven't actually sat down and watched the video
together, without the power to edit whilst watching or without
the chance to improve anything. However, seen as our video had
already been uploaded, this was a chance for us all to discuss
and decide in what areas we thought we had excelled and in
which areas we could of improved. We decided our settings,
lighting to create effect and emotion and narrative were the
good aspects of our project. However, we all agreed that the lip
sync in some small areas could have been better, along with the
issue of the beginning having perhaps too many shots and being
too fast. This made the first 20 seconds possibly hard to follow.
Own group feedback
7. Overall I am happy with the audience
feedback after we shown our video to groups
of people possibly inside our target audience.
Most of our feedback was actually really
positive. We received a small amount of
negative feedback although some were made
deliberately by use for effect, such as blurry
footage. This shows our audience decoded
what and why we included the shots in our
production ( Stuart Hall & Two step flow
theory). In my opinion through gathering
audience feedback I have learnt a lot about
how to improve productions I create in
future. I have also learnt that when planning
a production like our music video ‘Shine’ we
may think of ideas in our head, for example,
our blurry shots. It is therefore crucial for us
to think ahead as to what impression our
ideas will have on the audience.
