2. 1. A technical report is FUNCTIONAL.
Report writing is intended to serve only its purpose of
providing useful information – whether for
immediate use. For later reference, or for permanent
record.
When we write reports, we tell our readers what we think
they ought to know, we give them a basis for
discussion in facts and figures. And we provide them
summaries and interpretation.
3. 2. A technical report is INFORMATIVE.
Humpy dumpy sat on a
wall;
Humpty dumpy had a great
fall;
All the king’s horses
Couldn’t put humpy dumpy
together again
Because he was an egg.
Humpy dumpy sat on a
wall;
Humpty dumpy had a great
fall;
All the king’s horses
And all the king’s men
Couldn’t put humpy dumpy
together again
4. 3. A technical report is FACTUAL.
You summarize, simplify,
emphasize details, but you
must avoid
distorting
information.
5. 4. A technical report is EFFICIENT.
You must know how to pace your
presentation and give just the right
amount of information at a time to
ensure understanding and easy
reading.
6. 5. A technical report requires a
PRECONCEIVED DESIGN.
You need to present your information in
such a way that it can be easily used
for its purpose.
You have to use formats or
patterns that enable your readers to
find what they want fast.
7. SEAT WORK
To set the graphics board mode to sequential, first
remove the serial cable. Locate the mode switches
and place the first one in the up position and the
second one in the down position. Verify that the
monitor is disconnected before changing positions of
switches. Remove the interlace jumper and replace
the serial cable.
