Part 1
HOW DID YOU USE NEW
MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN
THE CONSTRUCTION AND
RESEARCH, PLANNING AND
EVALUATION STAGES?
BLOGGER
One of the new media technologies I used was the website Blogger. I used
Blogger to present my coursework; this was my research, ancillary tasks
and the production of my music video. I uploaded posts to blogger which
served as a platform for me to show what I had done throughout my project,
in my posts I used other websites such as: Prezi, Slideshare, YouTube,
Soundcloud and Emaze. These websites varied the content of my posts,
Prezi and Emaze allowed me to create presentations which I later
embedded into my blog posts. YouTube and Soundcloud allowed me to
upload audio and video files of myself speaking about my
project and the content I had created.
Blogger also allowed me to become a prosumer as I have
produced my own work and used it as a way to exhibit it to
a worldwide audience. My audience will then be able to
do the same on their blogs which shows that new media
technologies have broken down what an audience actually
is.
PREZI
Prezi is a presentation software I used for things like analyses
of music videos and to show work that I had done throughout
my project such as the development of my digipak. This website
was easy to navigate and useful because it provided me with
premade templates for my presentations. After choosing a
template I would then add content like text and images to the
presentation to make it my own.
After finishing it I then embedded it into
Blogger allowing anyone looking at my blog
to view it. Presentations on Prezi always
have a polished and clean look due to the
tools you can use and the transitions
between points.
EMAZE
Emaze is another presentation software I used, again, I was
able to choose existing templates as a starting point for my
presentation which was useful because I could choose ones
which were suited to my work. It is different to Emaze because
it had slides instead of a spider diagram layout, it allowed me
to fully customise anything from the template including any
little extra details used to make the
presentation better to look at.
I could also add images to illustrate
what I was talking about which helped
me when I was talking about existing
music videos.
On Slideshare I uploaded PowerPoint presentations I made
Microsoft PowerPoint. I am familiar with using PowerPoint since
I have been making presentations on it for years now therefore I
know how to use it effectively.
On PowerPoint I picked a background for my presentation and
began to add text based on the post I was doing, after I had
finished the presentation I would put it on my Slideshare
account then embed it into my media blog.
SLIDESHARE
For Soundcloud I recorded audio files of myself speaking about
my project. This was easy to create because I made a script and
talked about my work to the microphone instead of making a
presentation on the part of work I was speaking about.
Therefore, I didn’t have to type out what I wanted to include and
could easily talk about my project directly to my viewers.
After recording my voice I then uploaded the
file to Soundcloud and embedded it into a
blog post.
SOUNDCLOUD
I used YouTube to upload my music video, drafts for it, my
audience response and videos of myself evaluating my work. I
started by recoding the videos on my camera then I would put
them onto the computer.
For my music video I would then edit
the clips using iMovie to create the
look I wanted for the video. After editing
I would then upload the final video on
YouTube and embed it into my blog
allowing anyone using the websites to
see it.
