After he earned his MS in exercise science, Leonard Bevill gained practical experience in the field of occupational health medicine at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. During his 8 years there, he earned professional certification in several practice areas, including work capacity evaluation, impairment evaluation, and functional capacity evaluation. In 2001, Leonard Bevill founded Macon Occupational Medicine, LLC, where he serves as president and CEO. Located in the heart of Macon’s historic downtown, Macon Occupational Medicine (MOM) provides a broad range of services to patients and employers throughout the central Georgia area. MOM offers physical exams as a preventive measure and can customize pre-employment exams to meet an employer’s special needs. Its medical professionals also treat injuries, whether incurred on- or off-the-job, and work with the patient and employer to develop a modified duty work program. MOM’s substance abuse screening, available 24 hours per day, is accredited by the Drug & Alcohol Testing Industry Association for pre-employment, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion, as well as random tests. Implementing an aggressive approach that’s been demonstrated to promote more rapid recovery and return to unrestricted duty status, MOM’s rehabilitation services start work with patients as soon as practical after an illness or injury. In addition to these patient-oriented services, MOM also works with employers to audit their workplaces for safety issues, compliance with government regulations, and insurance standards. MOM can customize these audits to meet any employer’s specific requirements. More information about MOM and its services is available online at maconoccmedicine.org.
