The Kingdom of God is at hand. Love is the most powerful life changers and prayer is the key to that change. Get into your secret closet and call on his name Jesus Christ.
1. And the next day we that were of Paul's company
departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered
into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of
the seven; and abode with him.
ACTS 21:8
2. There was a certain man in Cesarea called Cornelius, a
centurion of the band called the Italian band, 2. A devout
man, and one that feared God with all his house, which
gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God
always.
ACTS 10:1- 2 CORNELIUS’ VISION
3. ACTS 8:40
But Philip was found at Azotus and passing through he
preached in all the cities, till he came to Cesarea.
A question was asked of me! Why do you go to places
where you are always being needed; what about your
needs. My responds was the LORD send his disciple to
serve people. Then I was lead to this scripture: Philippians
4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want for I have learned,
in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Note:
whatsoever state…to be content. Paul genuinely
appreciated the gifts from Philippi but he is not ultimately
dependent on them (cf. 1 Timothy 6-6-8).
4. Godliness – a deep reverence for God
I Timothy 6:13
I give thee charge in the sight of God
who quickeneth all things, and before
Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate
witnessed a good confession;
Note: before Pontius Pilate witnessed a
good confession. Probably a reference
to Jesus’ statements recorded in John
18:33-37
1 TIMOTHY 6:6 BUT GODLINESS WITH
CONTENTMENT IS GREAT
John 18:33-37
Then Pilate entered into the judgment
hall again, and called Jesus, and said
unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
34. Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this
thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee
of me? 35. Pilate answered, Am I a Jesus?
Thine own nation and the chief priests
have delivered thee unto me what hast
thou done? 36. Jesus answered, My
kingdom is not of this world: if my
kingdom were of this world, then would
my servants fight, that I should not be
delivered to the Jews: but now is my
kingdom not from hence. 37. Pilate
therefore said unto him, Art thou a king
then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I
am a king. To this end was I born, and
for this cause came I into the world, that
I should bear witness unto the truth.
Every one that is of the truth heareth my
voice.
5. Notes:
A processional liturgy celebrating
the glorious and triumphant rule of
Israel’s God. The events at mount
Sinai establishing of the ark of the
covenant, symbol of God’s throne,
in Jerusalem marked the
establishment of God’s
redemptive kingdom in the earth,
with Jerusalem as its royal city.
EPHESIANS 4:11
And he gave some, apostles;
and some prophets; and some,
evangelists; and some, pastors
and teachers;
Psalm 68
To the chief Musician, A Psalm
or Song of David
6. In light of these clear references, the
third stanza suggests a stage in the
procession recalling the wilderness
journey from Sinai to the promised
land, while the fifth marks that stage in
which the Lord ascends mount Zion.
On the other hand, the second stanza
reflects on the benevolence of God’s
rule; the fourth recalls His victories
over the kings of Canaan; the sixth
speaks reassuring of God’s future
victories; and the eight contains
prayers that God may muster His
power to subdue the enemy as He
had done before.
The early church, taking its cue from
Eph. 4:8-13, understood this psalm to
foreshadow the resurrection,
ascension and present rule of Christ
and the final triumph of His church
over the hostile world.
The psalm is composed of nine
(Hebrew)stanzas, with the last line as a
concluding doxology.
The (vv.1-3) indicated the beginning
of the liturgical procession, and the
last (vv. 32-35) refers to its
conclusion—God enthroned in His
sanctuary. The seventh speaks
expressly of the procession coming
into view and entering the sanctuary.
