For the Powerpoint, it was my goal to explore the majors in the Kelley School of Business, along with the career possibilities associated with them. Career Possibilities
1. Career Choice #1: Auditor
This career choice would be a good fit for me
because it involves reviewing and analyzing financial
records which correlates with my interest in numbers
and quantitative analysis. I was in very high math
classes all throughout high school so I have a strong
background in working with numbers.
I have experience dealing with financial records from
serving as a member on the Treasury committee for
my high school’s softball camp. I had to collect and
keep financial records of how much we were
spending and how much was coming in. At the end
of the camp, I reviewed and analyzed our financial
records to see how successful we were and what we
could change for the years to come.
Career Choice #2: Marketing
Researcher
This career choice would fit very well with my interest in
quantitative analysis because it deals with analyzing data and
seeing how it can be used towards strategic plans of a
company. I also have strong organizational skills which can be
helpful in putting data together in an effective way so that it
can be easily interpreted by members of a company. I have a
lot of experience in conducting market research from
countless business classes at my school.
In my Marketing class in high school we were assigned a
product and we had to figure out the most effective way to
market it. I was assigned to do the market research for my
group. I was able to analyze and evaluate the data I found so
it could be easily presented to our head of marketing. It
became a whole class competition with our teacher as the
judge for whose product was marketed the best and my
group won.

Throughout my life, I have gravitated towards jobs
and tasks where I got to work with numbers and
data. When my school hosted a softball camp for the
younger kids in my town, we all had to pick jobs to
help run the camp. I immediately jumped to the
finance committee where my job was to take care of
how much we would charge for the camp and what
special deals we could offer families. With this job I
was able to use my skills of researching to find the
best price for our camp and numbers to keep track
of the cash coming in. At the end of the camp, I
provided my coach with a report of how much we
earned with everything clearly stated. She was so
impressed with how much we had made!
Whenever it comes persuading or convincing
someone of something, I take great pride in being
successful. At my high school, we get the privilege
of being able to go off campus for lunch our senior
year. When I became a senior, our principal
decided to revoke that privilege. In outrage, my
peers voted for me and 3 other students to go in
front of the faculty and explain why we should be
able to go off campus and that it would be unfair
to take it away from us. I made a presentation
listing the reasons why we deserved to have it and
also evidence for why it would be beneficial to us.
The principal ended up reversing her decision and
we were able to have the off campus privilege.
3. -Lifestyle: I value having a life outside of work where I can spend time with
my family and friends.
- Independence: I value being in charge of what I am doing and being able
to have control over my work without having heavy outside influencers .
-Structure: Having set work hours, deadlines and procedures is very
important to me and my success.
-Financial Gain: I value having the opportunity to make money for hard
work.
-Power/Influence: Being able to make decisions and being in charge of
something is a value I have and I hope to be able to incorporate into my job
-Problem Solving: A particular instance that comes to mind was during my first year of
freshman mentoring. I mentored with two other students that year, supporting a group of
ten to twelve freshmen. One week during our mentoring session, both of my co-mentors
were absent from school. Though we had worked together to develop the lesson and
materials for that day, I was left on my own. I was able to quickly figure out a new plan and
confidently engage the group of students for the entire period to deliver meaningful
content that helped to better their success at school
-Determined: During my basketball season, I broke my arm and had to sit out for 6 weeks
of a 3 and ½ month season. I was devasted to find out that I would have to sit on the bench
and watch my teammates play a sport that I loved. The day I got my cast off I went right to
physical therapy and worked extremely hard for six weeks so that I could get back out on
the court. I was very determined to get back out there. I had a speedy recovery and was able
to play the last few weeks of the season thanks to my determined nature.
-Organization: During my senior year of high school I took AP Chemistry which is one of
the hardest courses at my high school. In order to keep as organized as possible through
my senior year I took the initiative to create a study group of all seniors enrolled in AP
Chemistry to meet once a week. I organized notes and plans for each study session which all
greatly helped both myself and my classmates to achieve success in the course

Accounting would be a great fit for

•Auditing-An auditor reviews and validates financial
records for a person or company. This would be a
good fit because I have a high interest in analyzing
numbers which is essentially what an auditor is doing.
A challenge might be that my personality type enjoys
working on my own but auditing would require
meeting with a client in the company and explaining
my findings.
•Management Consultant-This career can range from
restructuring financial systems to planning strategies
for a company. This could be a good fit for me
because it involves improving performance by
problem solving which is one of my strong skill sets.

you are done with one client, you choose when and
who to move onto next. A possible challenge is that
employers typically only accept the very top students
from an accounting program so if I’m not in the top
percent, I may struggle to find a job.
8. Fit for me?
Business Analytics could be a good fit for me
because it includes a great amount of
quantitative analysis. Business analytics deals
with analyzing data and making decisions
on that information. This would also go great
with my interest of having influence upon
others. By analyzing trends I would be able to
make presentations to others using said
information to make further decisions on how
to move forward. I also value power and
influence so being able to make these type of
decisions would be a great fit. I could use my
problem-solving skills to make new plans
on the data if it is not beneficial to the
company. However, it may not compliment my
organization part of my personality because
data is always changing and itself can be very
unorganized.

delivers more concrete results. This major would go
with my value of structure and organization along with
skills in problem solving. There could be challenges with
valuing a balanced lifestyle because this can be a very
demanding job of constantly reading data and delivering
information to the company.
•Business Analyst Consultant- This career includes jobs
dealing with data-collecting and looking at the bigger
picture to implement new ideas. This could be a great fit
for me because it has room to grow in becoming a
manager or major consultant along with being the
force behind using the data to make changes. However,
could be a challenge because I value structure and this
job has a lot to do with waiting for others to find the
and process it instead of researching it myself.

•Marketing Research- This career deals with analyzing,
interpreting and presenting data. This could be a
fit because I am interested in working with numbers. It
would allow me to analyze and organize data which I
excel in. A possible challenge that I could foresee is
that I would not be in the decision-making position in
this job which would conflict with my desire to be an
influential member of a company.
•Brand Management- This career involves making high
impact decisions for a brand and having final
responsibility for the brand’s success. This could be a
great fit for me based on my value of power and
influence. Having final say for how a brand is run is as
powerful as that job could get. I might face a
of not having structure because making those type of
decisions would require a lot of deliberation and back
and forth debate with partners. I would need to be
open to flexibility which could be a challenge.
