3. Rust
Causal organism: Revenelia emblicae
Symptoms:
✓On leaves, pinkish brown pustules develop which may be
arranged in group or scattered as infection of fruit does not
go on leaves and vice-versa.
✓On fruits initially few black pustules appear which later
develop in to a ring.
✓The pustules join together and cover big area of the fruit.
✓Teleospores of Revenelia emblicae causes the fruit and leaf
infection. Siddu Lakshmi Prasanna
5. Siddu Lakshmi Prasanna
Favourable condition: after monsoon in September.
Primary source of inoculum: Teliospores present in plant debris
Secondary source of inoculum: Rain/air borne conidia
Disease management
• Orchard should be clean for growing of aonla plantation.
• Maintain proper plant distance and aeration by training and pruning.
• Proper pruning after harvest should be done in orchard for reducing
humidity.
• Use of disease free planting material.
6. • The orchards should be free from weeds.
• Severely infected plant parts should be pruned and destroyed.
• Grow tolerant/resistant cultivars like Banarasi and Chakaiya.
The use of fungicides is imperative to save crop losses and also increasing the
productivity.
a) Three sprays with indofil Z -78 (0.2%) at monthly interval during the months of
July to September proves effective against this disease.
b)This disease can also be controlled by wettable sulphur (0.25%) during July-
September

Symptoms:
✓This disease appears on leaflets and fruits in August-
September.

8. Siddu Lakshmi Prasanna
✓In severe cases, many spots coalesce with each other to form bigger
lesions.
✓The central areas of spots remain grayish raised with dot like
fruiting bodies- the acervuli arranged in rings.
✓Under severe condition, plenty spots result the fruits to shrivel and
rot.
9. Favourable condition: Temperature 28-32° C, wet weather
Primary source of inoculum: Older fruits left on the trees provide inoculum
for disease spread.
Conidia present in infected plant debris
Secondary source of inoculum: air borne conidia
Management:
• Sanitation of orchard
• Discard affected fruits from the orchard
• Spray carbendazim (0.1%) before harvesting of fruits
